Prototype timepiece.

 By: David L. : February 14th, 2019-07:45
Hi guys, It’s been quite a while since my last post, unfortunately I’m not very active here. I would like to share with you my latest creation. I’m interested to hear what you think of it. What you see on the picture is my new prototype piece that I'm mak...

I like your ideas

The concept of totally separating seconds from the hours/minutes is not seen so often any more. I would really like to see your movement and how you resolved the separation of the year train from the seconds wheel. I like your design and especially the th...

Thank you kjell_j.

Thank you, I'm glad you like the watch. Can you please explain what you mean by separation of the year train from the seconds wheel? I'm not sure what you mean. This movement does not display seconds, only hours and minutes so there is not separation. It'...

Typo - what happens when you have auto correct on the cell phone - should read "gear train"

And your reply answers my questions. I thought it had to be (at least) two auxiliary wheels. I am curious to see the lay out.

Ahh, okay. :)

I didn't know what you meant.

That is quite an accomplishment without a doubt.

Unfortunately I can not offer and real advice from a technical side but I do feel from a visual side some color would add some additional depth to the dial. It could be something as simple as blue hands or more elaborate like enamel on the hour and minute...

Thank you Bill,

Yeah, I guess the angle and light makes it a bit monotone, but in real life I feel there is enough depth. Actually I haven't thought about blued hands, but now that you mentioned it could look pretty good. Or maybe blue the dials.

Amazing work

to think you did this is quite an feat. I love the case, and although I’m not generally a fan of regulator watches, in this case, I feel, it is done coherently with the concept and the layout.=I think it is super cool and well designed. I like the hammere...

Thank you.

I'm really glad you like it. Yeah the hands are not 100% for sure. I also wasn't enteritis happy with them so yesterday I machined two additional hands, and I managed to bend and screw up both of them. Anyhow, thank you for your input, I appreciate it and...

I really like it ,

Thank you very much.

I'm happy to hear that you like it.

May I ask?

 By: sham1 : February 14th, 2019-08:59
what does the back of the watch look like? I must congratulate you for producing what many of us can only dream to do.

Thank you very much sham1.

I will share a picture of the back as soon as possible. Probably sometime tomorrow.

This is really great stuff!!

Honestly, I love everything about this piece - you have done a fantastic job and I am completely in awe! I'm sitting here struggling to assemble a floor lamp I bought from Target. You have given me the inspiration I require - if David L can build a beauti...

Thank you NickO

I appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad that you like the watch. and good luck with the lamp.

Damn good!

I like non-round watches a lot and this is no exception. At the first glance I would have said it's too tall and the distance between the dials should be less, but after some time it looks fine, overall balanced. I would colour (blue?) the hands to make i...

Thanks tick28800.

Yeah, I'll give it and make a new set of hands and blue them to see how they will look. Regarding the holes, if you are talking about the two large two small at the top and 3 at the bottom, those are screw holes and fixing pin holes that holds the bridges...

You should be delighted David - I am very envious of the skills you have developed to achieve such unique work or art - Bravo! . I think the peening on the main plate gives a very clear

contrast to the chapter rings, gears and hands - I understand this is very difficult to do well with good consistency. I think the hands would really stand out if they were shaped, blued and polished (Vianney Halter Classic ish..). Great work and thanks f...

Thank you Will.

 By: David L. : February 15th, 2019-05:04
Yeah, I'm going to design a couple of new hands in CAD, see if any of them would be more suitable. The Vianney Halter hands are really awesome, I'll try something similar but the problem is on my watch the hands are much smaller thus make it a lot more di...

I love this look...

...not a fan of regulators but am sure you could figure out how to put the hands together. It may be a bit 'tall' but hard to tell without wearing it. It reminds me of an early RW Smith rectangular watch I saw a long time ago in person...it has an unfinis...

Wow! I'm impressed and envious! I'd wear that!

I like the monochromatic look. It makes the different finishes take center stage--plenty of texture and depth to make it interesting without contrasting colors IMO. Nice work!

Thank you amanico.

Movement side.

 By: David L. : February 15th, 2019-09:30
Hi guys, Thank you all for your kinds words and support, I'm very grateful. I took a picture of the movement side if you are interested. It's not the most thrilling shot, the lighting is pretty bad but hopefully you can see how it looks. I think the bridg...

Thank you amanico for the suggestions.

Regarding the difference between the front and back, that is on purpose. I wanted to have a drastic contrast between them, but yeah I'll try to chamfer the edges and maybe add Cotes De Geneve later on, but I think hammering the bridges would be too much f...
