Update on Sapphire Spirit of Big Bang - is Hublot quality decreasing?

Hi all

A few weeks ago I shared some very positive comments upon the receipt of my first Hublot - the Sapphire Spirit of Big Bang. I was extremely happy and pleased, and shared feedback that this is a strong contender for more “upmarket” brands like RM and AP.

Now the reality has begun to sink in - a few days after receiving the watch, I noticed some hazy marks in the inside of the case - like fingerprints. Note that as a transparent sapphire case, one spends time marveling at all of the details and brilliant angles of the watch.

Unfortunately - after bringing it to the dealer, we confirmed there was some kind of mark inside! As the dealer felt extremely apologetic, they offered a replacement watch in their case. I felt extremely lucky that they had one - and felt relieved for a moment that I could take home the timepiece.

But - the new watch had a rather large piece of dust trapped in the case! Wow. No go for me. Both watches got sent back to Hublot.

I am totally shocked and disappointed by this seeming lack of quality by Hublot - especially as this is one of the higher end models, AND this watch is likely going to be viewed and inspected more with its sapphire case.

I know many of you have good experiences - but what happened to me, twice, is really unbelievable. At this point the dealer has requested a new piece from Hublot - and I am anxiously awaiting the new piece.

So - I am wondering should I even accept this new piece? Is Hublot quality decreasing? Or, is this expected - a little bit of “you get what you pay for” given the seemingly strong value for money of the Hublot vis a vis other brands.

Would love to hear other thoughts!

can understand your feeling,but....if you realy like this watch, i would give them the chance to fix it(i know they will as their aftersale is excellent).The sapphire Hublots i handeled so far were looking flawless. I think(from experience), possible impe...

It appears the dealer is serious about rectifying the matter and maintaining goodwill, to the extent of replacing the watch multiple times without you even pushing them for it. If you really like the watch, I would say to give them another chance. Just my...

Ur dealer is very sincere. I believe ur dealer n hublot will both get this resolved

time “clean watch not exist just cleaned one”,don t stress over it the factory will open clean your timepiece and it will be better-literally-like the may aware but the best brands reassemble their watches right after those assembled to be sure the timep... 

Give Hublot a chance. There are only humans making the watches....

Peter, your Hublot is an awesome one and the Hublot aftersalesservice is famous and will help you asap. Mistakes could happen, give them another chance and enjoy your Spirit of Big Bang sapphire. Cheers, Thorsten

Peter, with tens of thousands of watches being produced the reality is QC has dropped for all brands.

I don't think this is a Hublot specific issue, Patek, Lange and others have numerous examples of very very poor QC. This is the reality unfortunately. What would concern me more is how the problem is addressed. Your AD has responded as best they could, no...
