One of the AD i deal with used to be a dealer for them and he was sharing at that time they were far from COSC even and as such never tried to steer me into the brand...

again no clue how reliable that was...typically that AD was pretty transparent and honest with me...oh well, there are other choices...

Djokovic x Hublot

 By: edo.k : August 29th, 2021-15:41
After short episode with Audemars Piguet and couple of years with Seiko, most successful tennis player of all time Novak Djokovic signed with Hublot. Blue Carmic Mecca will be his off court/match watch and they are working on a performance watch that Djok...

Even being one of the top athletes ever, he is not very marketable person...

and you never know when his meltdown will come when he rips off the t-shirt, break the racket, swear the audience and his box or tomorrow take off the watch... so I don't know that special watch that he will wear during the match is a good idea for a pers...

I love the piece he is wearing!

I think so too. Not many post of them over here…

I always wondered if hublot movement are better today then on the past…

Hublot orchestrated their own downfall, with the billion limited editions. And this is a forum of nuanced collectors.

But their in-house movements are decent, and these Mecca movements are impressive.

I guess. I was surprised and mostly sceptical when a local AD still carrying Hublot had told me the Hublot now have rate accuracy in the ~ -2 to +3 range…I don’t remember the exact number

But actually he told me something even more suspicious like -2.7s to +3.4s. First I had never heard such a decimal point tolerance and quite frankly he lost all credibility at that point…nor could I find any of these claim on their website but I could be ...

Yeah. That sounds shady. They are regulated, so probably meet COSC criteria, before casing.

I’d seriously consider their unico-movement smaller chronos, but even the 42mm version wears big on me because the lugs flare out. Lovely flyback chronos though, and great experimentation with different materials

I understand the marketing aspect and Nadal wearing it was a novelty (was he even the first?) but seeing every athlete wear a watch on the court or track is getting ridiculous.

Not the first but the genius marketing of RM made it like he was first, best, fastest, strongest etc :)

 By: edo.k : August 29th, 2021-17:46
Speaking of old school players Boris Becker wore an IWC sometimes, and not so old school Justin Henin wore gold Rolexes in a bunch of matches... but Nadal with the ultra light ultra durable RMs made a biggest story with on court watch... Serena's and Stan...

..

It feels forced somehow, especially with Serena Williams and all the others doing it. I never noticed it, that Henin wore a watch during her games.

Three times is marine right

Yes, the best tennis player goes Hublot. Always i was questioning why Djokovic was so on the side with Seiko. While Serena Williams wear great and proud Audemars Piguet. Nadal and his mighty RM. Welcome Djokovic to the club.

Never in my life...

...have I said, 'Wow, a celebrity/athlete uses xyz product, I guess I should too! But then again, I have never clicked on an online ad or a promoted search result...

You made an excellent point...in fact, your first sentence is precisely the reason why Patek does NOT employ ambassadors! If you buy their product it's generally because your (un)conscious aspiration is to be like...yourself, not someone else ;-)

For good or bad, and not so unpredictably, however this marketing strategy seems to be working for most other brands (of watches or otherwise), which invest countless millions in "celebrities" of all sorts....Glad for Djokovic and Hublot if this turns out...

I agree, sir, in toto. The defence of PP has come from the right person! 😊

Patek philosophy is different. You may like or not, they think their way..

Too large for his slim wrist. Ridiculous!

And I am a great admirer of his tennis.
