Help, I did something really crazy!!!
Today I accidentally came across the Hublot Limited Edition Big Bang Unico Essential Grey on the internet.
This model is limited to 200 pieces and only available online.
I just bought it. It seems I am totally crazy. Because I have not tried the watch and have never seen it live. But I was so mesmerized that I HAD to buy it without hesitation.
Of course I have already read a lot about the movement and comparable Hublot watches here in the forum and on the internet. At least that way I know the watch represents good quality.
Powering this Essential Grey model is the Unico 2 movement. This automatic in-house caliber includes a flyback chronograph and 72 hours of power reserve. The case is 42mm and made of grade 5 titanium. WR is 100m.
I can’t believe what I have done. But it was love at first sight. Strange….
Now I joined the Hublot club as a little novice.
If someone had predicted that to me this morning, I would have called him/her crazy…

Help, I did something really crazy!!!

Well then "Glückwunsch" first of all!
That is one of these stories... trust me, you will NOT regret it. First impression is very accurate, especially if it is a positive one, as we all tend to be quite critical. I tried the 42 Unico and was really smitten. It is a very nice watch and the push...
Dankeschön, lieber Ray!
Wo die Liebe hinfällt… ;-) Where love falls... ;-) Hublot is actually very underestimated. I've been following Hublot watches closely, but haven't bought anything until now. I always go about my purchases in such a way that I really have to be 100% convin...
We all only live once. We need some crazy stuff once in a while.
It was an immediate decision. Thanks for reading, Armis. Best Thomas
Congratulations! Why not?
If you like it bingo. I never understood this Hublot negativity or any brand in general. The red ceramic is one of my favorites, but this one is even more appealing... Can’t wait for the wrist shots.🥂
Thanks a lot.
We both share the love for a certain watch (second generation). 😉
Yes, indeed, Markus.
Thanks a lot for your comment. It’s somehow “reduced” due to the grey colour but looks still powerful with a lot of wrist presence. Can’t wait to see it on my wrist. Cheers Thomas
Hahaha. Thanks a lot, Ed!
I am a big admirer of the diversity of your eclectic collection (from GF to a lovely Zeitwerk, from Omega to FPJ or your beautiful Breguet chrono with enamel dial). 👏👏👏
Thanks a lot, dear Yacomino🙏☺️
I can hardly believe it, but the watch was already shipped today. I just got the information and also an e-warranty document. I have to say, a fantastic service. Great customer experience. 👏👏👏 ...
That's very very kind of you, dear Fab! ☺️
I must confess I am not into Hublot at all. I have zero experience with this brand. Hublot just kept fascinating me (since Mr. Biver took this brand under his wing). The watch was ordered yesterday, and today morning there was already a conversation via e...
I completely share your opinion.
For me it always has to be 100 percent love at first sight. As soon as the ratio comes along and you try to gloss over little minuses with your thoughts (up to the tiresome topic of resale value), it's usually already over. But here it's a special quality...
This is very captivating. I love the grey theme and brushed Ti. Nice tool watch 👍
Thanks a lot!
Can’t wait to hold it in my hands. ☺️ Cheers Thomas ...
You did great!!
Don’t worry about all the naysayers. Hublot makes great watches. And I really like the mechanics of the Unico (and 2) movements. The soft pushers, the Flyback chrono, etc. You won’t regret your impulse purchase and we’re all happy for you. That’s what lif...
Actually I am…
I just recently acquired one I was looking for for some time. ...
What model? 42 or 44mm? What is your wrist size?
It’s a 42.
I don’t have a big wrist and I like my watches tighter. This one works great.
I like the strap a lot -- looking fwd to more pics!
Thanks a lot, hI99
I think, the watch will be delivered with two different straps: one grey lined rubber strap and one with a Swiss velcro fastening. I will post some photos once I get my hands on the watch. Best Thomas
if you are crazy, than I am crazy too! Yes, it is unbelievable, but I did - almost - the same: I bought also YESTERDAY my very first Hublot after collecting mechanical watches for more than 14 years… If it was love at first sight, than you won’t regret it...
You did almost the same??
At the same day? The same brand? What a coincidence. I can not believe it. Hahahaha I'm afraid we're all a little crazy here. 😎 Do you have a photo of your new beauty? 🥂 Thomas
I fall in love with Hublot Unico series since they launched the sapphire series.. Don’t listen to all those negative comments about the brand especially on YouTube 😆 .. Just buy what you like first and foremost and enjoy your watch.. Here’s a shot of my v...
It is bulky, especially on a narrow wrist, but the all sapphire case makes it elegant at the same time. A cool watch, no doubt, cheers, Filip
Thanks a lot for your nice comment, Jane! 🙏☺️
If I understand correctly, are you the female part of the „Janef duo“? It's not always easy to tell the two of you apart. 😁 I read a great post from your partner about your Sapphire model. How much you like to wear it (also for cooking!!) and how robust/s...
Congrats! Another banger from Hublot!
I currently have a Big Bang Integral Ceramic Blue 42mm. It fits and looks great on my 6.5” wrist. I want to get the Unico Titanium Blue Ceramic: From what I understand, the Unico 42mm linked above has slightly thicker case size and slightly larger lug-to...
Thank you for your nice reply!
I just researched your Titanium Blue Ceramic. 😉 A very intriguing piece, too. I have a 16,5-17 cm wrist and normally not even a problem with a 47 mm Panerai. My Titanium Grey’s case size is 42 mm, too, with a 52mm lug-to-lug length and 14.5mm thickness. I...
You’re welcome, Thomas. Good to know…
My Integral Ceramic Blue 42mm is about 49.3mm lug-to-lug length and 13.8mm case thickness. I am more concerned with wider lug-to-lug length. I’d like to be able to try one on locally before pulling the trigger online.
That’s what I always / normally do.
Never buying a watch without having tried it on my wrist. Here, for some reason, I threw all my principles overboard… Do you have a realistic chance to see it in the flesh in the near future?
My preference is try before I buy, but it doesn’t always happen.
There are two Hublot retailers close to me. One retailer does not have any Big Bang Unico 42mm models in stock, but they are able to bring one in from another location for a 20% refundable deposit. I don’t want to go that route. I am checking with the oth...
This deposit thing is strange.
Does that mean that if they get the watch to be viewed, there is an obligation to take that watch or another watch? Or would you get the deposit back? This is, what you wrote (“refundable”). But then what would be the point of this deposit?
Yes, I would get my deposit back...
Even if it is refundable. And I don’t want to tie up $ like that even if it is on my credit card. I have absolutely no intention of buying the watch from an AD or boutique. I just want to try it on. I have other sources where I purchase watches from. I gu...
Maybe they have had bad experiences?
You say yourself that you would never buy the watch there. That's exactly what they fear (rightly so). In fact, it is not an obligation and obviously just a feeling to be created in the customer. Or they have to make a deposit themselves with the dealer t...
The Hublot dealer location near me - Bucherer is able to bring the watch in from another one of their locations, yet they still require a refundable deposit. I guess it is policy. I get it!
Maybe it depends on the country, too?
I also buy many watches at Bucherer (Vienna) and I never had to pay a deposit in my whole life! But unfortunately it is more and more the case that interesting watches are not in stock and can only be ordered if you actually take them. What normally is al...
I am not in a rush. Maybe one of the local Hublot dealers will eventually get a Big Bang Unico 42mm model in stock for me to try on
Fantastic service. I will open a new thread with photos. Cheers Thomas
Thanks a lot, Ajas! ☺️
I have done it already and shared my - first - impressions in my second thread. Best Thomas
