You know where I stand on this.

The Octo is the most exciting new mass market watch of the last 10, 20 years even. It is the only watch in the last decade which when I first saw the press pictures I said I have to buy one (if it fit my wrist, and once I found the right one for me).
Montblanc was not the same, but this was due to 1) the style or design of the watches were pedestrian (insofar as being like everything else, not a sin but also not something that jumps out of the display case at you) and 2) I figured case sizes were too much for me.
I think the tipping point for us here is once we know there is good work being done we can move past the label.
And what about Van Cleef & Arpels? Agenhor’s Poetic Complications are some of my most favourite dreamy watches. And there is also Christiaan Van Der Klaauw’s models. Amazingly cool stuff, albeit perhaps a little too bejeweled for most of us !
