Why does shipping watches internationally SUCK so badly

Apr 02, 2021,17:51 PM

I've been having awful luck lately.  Two watches stuck/returned to the dealers I got them from.  Any tips for handling this nonsense and shipping in general?  For some reason my watch shipments never go smoothly.  If its with Ferrari, I get an exorbitant customs bill or if its DHL/FedEx, something always goes wrong and it gets delayed.  Ok, I'm done ranting.

It is the worst. I’ve been waiting for a watch from oversees that has been in transit for weeks at this point

Could have been worse. I've been waiting for my cell phone battery

Shipped from Netherlands to indonesia...it has been 2 months and still not arrived yet. Can you believe it? 2 months just for a small piece of battery. On the other hand, last month I received my order from Amazon (a book). They used DHL, and it came only...

I’ve never had a problem using DHL.

DHL is my go-to shipping courier from Australia to UK, US and Europe

I actually like DHL

THis was the one time I've had an issue. FedEx on the other hand is utter crap.

Hahaha!

Get in touch as soon as the piece starts it’s journey and ask them what documents they think will be required. Sometimes they ask for things from you (for example proof you already own it, if it’s coming back from service) or from the seller etc. In my ex...

Similar story here too . Sometimes i get a package from the USA within a few days and other time i need to wait for about 2 weeks from a country next door .

I hate this . Thats why I always pref to pickup my watch or do a face to face deal.

My last shipping

I quit shipping. If i want a watch? I call or mail the seller, make an appointment, take my car, and drive to the boutique. Take an espresso, and inform our community of my new watch.

I would if I could!

Trouble is, can't quite do that with a dealer in Japan or the Canary Islands!

The backyard of watchmaking

It is not fair i am living in the backyard of watchmaking. Easy acces to an enormous stock. But yes, Rolex is also here a waiting list situation.

I know of two watches stuck in FedEx for 30 days!
