Transiting Switzerland

Sep 18, 2018,03:25 AM

I am traveling to Italy via Switzerland next month on holiday. I have heard unsubstantiated stories of customs agents at the border requesting proof of EU VAT payment for certain watches. All my watches were purchased from ADs with paperwork proving payment of EU VAT. Should I take the paperwork with me just in case? Thanks in advance for any insights.

If you are only bringing one watch and it sits on your wrist, I don't think they'll ever conceivably ask you any questions..

...while if you are carrying several watches with you to Italy, then frankly I'd be much more concerned of what could happen *after* you pass the Swiss border..๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope you'll enjoy a safe trip to my beautiful home country!๐Ÿ˜

+1 regarding the watch on your wrist [nt]

It will be a two watch holiday. One for day and one for evening wear.

We'll be on the Ligurian coast. Meeting friends in Vernazza and Portofino.

Iโ€™ve been traveling in and out from Geneva airport for at least 200 times.

Always with 2-3 watches in my travel case. Never been asked even once. So donโ€™t worry.
