Horological Meandering

To a certain extent, I second your feelings ....

... since I find myself attracted and taken aback by the Seiko sports watches at the same time. I like their looks, even more that of the Monsters or Sumos:

They remind me of Mangas, children pretending to be adult superheroes: friendly, a bit chaotic in design, but highly practical.

Seiko's "LumiBrite" luminous material is more than quite good. I bet with you that you won't find any SL-based watch with a better luminosity performance. In my tests, it even outperformed my reference, the UN Marine Diver with C3 SL.

The big downside, IMHO, is the movement. I have the impression that Seiko saw no reason to invest time and resources into the technical improvement of its automatic movements, since its spring drive technology seems to be so superior. I found most Seikos to be poorly regulated, and the movements to have rather large production tolerances, compared with the state of the art ETA movements.
