A great thread, Ronald!🙏

When trying to answer your question, I was shocked to see how many watches have already left my collection, simply because my taste has changed a lot in recent years (decades).

Only in one case not: I returned to the IWC Da Vinci 2nd generation with regret

after parting with the first generation.

Just looking at my collection now the OLDEST piece now that I STILL WEAR from time to time is my Zenith Pilot Montre d'Aéronef Type 20, which I bought in September 2009.

Followed by my Moser Henry Double Hairspring (which I purchased in 2012):

I still own my FIRST “beautiful” watch. I got it as a present from my father. So even if I DON’T WEAR it anymore, it’s a watch I will never let go: a Seiko CJH990 from 1985:

Best
Thomas

The watch you have owned the longest and still wear

This came up in another forum, so I thought I would post it here. To be fair, you still have to wear the watch occasionally. Photos would be welcome.

Of course is this

I snorkelled with it extensively in the 90s and failed to clean it properly.

 By: Uncle Chico : July 24th, 2022-21:56
The result was that salt damaged the bezel. I had both the strap and bezel replaced. He probably purchased it in the mid 70s. The lume is practically non-existent but it's still a great summer watch.

Bought this new in 1994. Complications was in, perpetual calendar, perpetual chrono, etc. Black dial was the rage, originally came with silver dial, immediately sent it back to Patek and exchanged it to Black (didn’t see any without diamonds at the time.)...

I have a few more that i own for about 30+ years but tbh I hardly wear them anymore

My UN PC is 21 years old which get worn infrequently.

What a great theme

 By: ChristianDK : July 25th, 2022-19:56
This watch used to belong to my grandfather and was gifted to me in 1994. I was 20 years old at the time and wore it sparingly for a couple of years. My daily was a Tag Heuer diver st that time. Much more appropriate for a young man. . Then, about 12 year...

What beauties - story and watch. Thank you.

This thread shows - to me - how many emotions, memories, etc. we associate with our beloved watches.

Exactly, my friend…

 By: ChristianDK : July 28th, 2022-10:49
I think it’s all about our emotions. We sometimes try to justify our taste and choices by discussing quality, technical specs, value ect. Deep down we all know the decisive factor are pure emotions.

Thank You so much, Geo 🤗

 By: patrick_y : July 26th, 2022-20:05
Was a Patek Philippe. I enjoy it very much, even to this day. Although I wore it as a daily for nearly ten years, I have to admit that with the pandemic and the notoriety of Patek Philippe watches makes me wear it less often nowadays.

A great thread, Ronald!🙏

I completely understand that.

 By: MTR : July 27th, 2022-10:28
The first generation had the disadvantage for me to have a less readable dial (font size). But “our” 2nd generation was/is perfect. Did you use it to fund another nice piece? ...

I agree but it is..

 By: Ronald Held : July 27th, 2022-19:35
Unfortunately true that one may have to sell older watches to buy newer ones.

Yes, unfortunately and also fortunately.

 By: MTR : July 27th, 2022-23:30
Because in this way the collection gets refined more and more and also more and more corresponds to the further development of one's own taste.

True. Refining a collection..
