Sorry! By 'shadow lines' I mean the lines that are created between, for example, the crystal, bezel, main body and case back of a watch when there appear to be spaces between them ...

Architects often use 'shadow lines', which look like narrow trenches, around doors to give visual interest.

In many watches, there are 3. Crystal to bezel, bezel to case, case to case back. Commonly, though, there are 4 when there is a crystal case back.

On others. like the Rolex Y-M on my wrist now, the case back line is not visible at all and the case appears monolithic with no shadow lines, with the bezel just perched on top. The bezel itself, however, has a rim and the edge of the crystal is a pronounced shadow line.

In the image of the Habring2 I post above, the shadow lines are very clear, which is why I was prompted to write the post.

Now, I'm fascinated how different manufacturers approach this design element.
