A shout-out and humble apology to Miss L, who has been a member of our group . . .

. . . for many years.  I missed including her entirely, for which I've no excuse, especially as she was seated right next to me.

She brought one watch, this Habring . . .

. . . to the gathering last Saturday.  Well-known to this community, not to mention a former moderator.

The alphabet soup gang had their first gathering of 2020 . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-19:04
. . . yesterday at the usual secret location deep in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Our first order of business (after ordering libations, of course!) was to decide on a club t-shirt design. One of our members, Mr E, happens to be a graphic artist ...

Mr B is also a member of several years standing, with mainly vintage pieces . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-19:17
. . . in his collection. Then, there's the relatively modern piece he affectionately calls . . . . . . "The African Dictator". Of course, every such dictator . . . . . . needs a Mercedes. ;-) ...

Mr C and Mrs D are original members of our gang. Mr C was at our first gathering . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-19:26
. . . in '05, and Mrs D has graciously joined us every time since she and Mr C began dating. Unfortunately, I managed to miss the watches both of them brought; hopefully Mr C will send pics along in a day or so. Mrs D brought her Breguet on a new pink str...

Mr E isn't quite an original member of our gang, but joined within a few years . . .

. . . of formation, and is now a Grey Eminence. Generally a vintage guy with a predisposition towards Omega . . . . . . with occasional forays into other pastures. Also known to dabble in modern. He's a near neighbor and close friend with insights I frequ...

Mr F is also a founding member, present at our first gathering . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-19:59
. . . in August '05, and has made most meetings since. He just got married a few months ago; his wedding gift . . . . . . was this brown-dialed gold tone Seiko. It is, as you can imagine, his pride and joy. Also this Seiko chronograph . . . . . . which he...

Oh, I've performed these reports in the same format before, Fab. Unfortunately, I manage to post . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-20:09
. . . about one thread every other year. We refer to ourselves as the 'alphabet soup gang' so that we can retain a hint of anonymity; long-time members of this forum can probably figure out our identities.

Mr G may not have been at our very first gathering, but I believe he's made every one since . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-20:19
. . . with an exception or two. Yet another collector with definite leanings towards vintage, mainly IWC. Also a cellist in his spare time, not to mention Dad to two current Yale undergrads. ...

Mr H was an early member of our group . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-20:44
. . . and has mainly indies in his collection. Partial to Dornblüth; he's the guy to ask when questions arise about the micro-manufacturer from Kalbe. ...

Mr I was also around at the beginning of our group . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-21:08
. . . and partial to modern IWC, as well as smaller manufacturers. [Editors note: ownership of the Hanhart has been claimed by Mr I.] ...

Mr J is a stalwart, participant in every gathering save the very first . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-21:23
. . . and perhaps one other over the years. He collects watches from just about every manufacturer imaginable except Rolex. JLC's galore yesterday. ...

The last pic is the only one that's been . . .

Here's an image straight off . . .

Mr K is one of three founding members still active . . .

An established member plus a newcomer sent their regrets at . . .

 By: Dr No : February 9th, 2020-21:54
. . . the last minute; had they come, we'd be up to Mr M. A veritable tureen of alphabet soup! Art

Thanks for a creative way of posting a GTG report

Enjoyed reading it, loved the pictures (except the Reverso with the allegedly red dial but I think it’s plain black) and perhaps inspirational to see if we can copy such a group in the Middle East

As always, a convivial and horologically interesting event.

Those of us who live near it are lucky; those of you who don't should certainly participate if you're in the area.

Depends on when you visit next, Ronald. Our gatherings aren't tied in to this forum . . .

. . . as some of our members are more often on TZ or WUS. Actually, a TZ moderator, Khalil Sheikh, was a regular attendee for a few years, but dropped out quite some time ago. Send me a pm the next time you visit So Cal, and I'll let you know if we're hav...
