Thanks for the update. My experience ...
... with warranty service is that there is no charge at all from the AD you purchased the watch from. They cover all the sundry costs like packaging, handling and transport back to the Manufacture.
Outside of the warranty period the AD may or may not charge a handling fee to get the watch back to the service centre. The fee may vary depending on whether it is local or international (eg. back to Switzerland). And the fee may be waived if it is a dealer you have built up a relationship with. I seem to remember the cost of sending an F.P.Journe from the Hong Kong Boutique back to the Geneva Manufacture was CHF500, regardless of whether I accepted the quote for service (which they couldn't give me until they had the watch in their hand at the Manufacture).
But all this varies from country to country and dealer to dealer. No set process or fee. It's a pity that when people purchase a new watch that they don't ask more about the service issues - the common question might be "how long is the warranty on this watch?" but they don't delve any deeper.
Regards,
Andrew
