Stolen/Update

An update on my stolen SEIKO SLA017 (62 MAS reissue) Limited Edition #1232. I was finally able to speak to Paypal on the phone and my funds were returned to me. I wanted to thank you all for all the advice that was given in regards to dealing with Paypal and the theft of my watch.  I wanted to note that I personally will not be using Paypal again considering the amount of effort on my side to prove that they needed to uphold their side of the Goods and Services T&Cs and the stress this caused. I thought I would provide you with some details with the hope that no one else finds themselves in this situation.

The address that the watch was sent to is:

3190 Summit Place Dr
LOGANVILLE, GA US 30052

This is the name that signed for it: C. Griffin
The suspected individuals who could be involved:
Instagram: Corde May Griffin
@ corde_may  Bobby
@ lightskinbobby  Oscar Griffin
@ oscar_grip  Phyoncia Griffin
@ lpc2901 @ Sweetsugar1pg

Obviously scammers can use fake names so these details might not be all that useful. Always check references and research your payment method to make sure you will be covered if anything was to ever go wrong.  Please keep in mind scammers can use fake names so my advice is to not ship to that address.  Also, considering that the individual ended up with both the funds and the watch I would be wary of purchasing this watch if it ever came up for sale again (Limited Edition #1232 for reference). Always check references and research your payment method to make sure you will be covered if anything was to ever go wrong. I just wanted to give any advice I can in the hope no one ever finds themselves in a similar situation.

Wire transfer.. But yeah, otherwise, buyer gets too much protection on PayPal.

Agreed. It is the only way to go.

That was the first and last time that I will use paypal G&S.

I read on another forum that it's risky to use PP F&F for purchases...

 By: CR : September 30th, 2020-11:26
... because if the buyer (falsely or truthfully) tells PayPal that the F&F funds were transferred for a commercial transaction and the buyer never received the item, then PayPal can decide to (a) reverse the transaction and/or (b) ban the seller (and ...

Glad you got funds back sir

Didnt see your first post. I suppose you sold the SLA017 (a fine piece) to the scammer who paid by PP. Then he claimed he didnt get the watch and asked PP to reverse payment? Good thing you got payment back. For different reasons, i have stopped using PP....

Yes that's pretty much it.

He claimed that he didn't authorize the transaction with his bank and paypal. Even though I had all the evidence supporting that I shipped the watch.

At least you got your funds back

I suppose he has to sell that watch to make some money off his fraud. Am just appalled and concerned over the increasing number of frauds being perpetrated recently.

Glad this ended in your favor

But would you have rather had the watch returned instead of the funds?

Yes I would have.

The watch was NOS and would rather be wearing it right now.

Glad everything solved

Thanks for the advice. I am always beware of false information. I check things more then twice before i do something. The downside is, i take no risks. The good thing, i’m not a victim. When i want something, i start with a little step and look what will ...

Yes that's very true when buying new it's a great feeling to walk out of a boutique with a new piece.

In regards to pre-owned and vintage it's another story. I have sold via chrono24 when all other avenues have not worked and the trusted checkout did take longer than a normal transaction and cost 6.5% in fees but it was smooth and would recommend it.

What does PayPal G

I’ve used PP since it started but don’t know that term G

Good you got your funds back

And thanks for sharing your experience. It is useful to take into consideration while buying or selling through the net and paying items or receiving funds on PP or on other way. Something may go wrong that does mean sleepless nights.

Address of recipient...

I'm glad you got this resolved! Several years ago, my (old) credit card was used to buy computers, etc., and I was able to obtain the shipping address of the recipient. After investigating and interviewing the recipient, the detective told me that what ha...
