Have you considered Nomos?

Maybe I can share my experience: I had a similar search and ended up with a Nomos Club automat (without date, ref. 751).  Durable, from an independent, goes with anything, 40mm (and they make other sizes), 100m water resistance, very reasonably priced (as such things go), and importantly (for your situation and mine) no lume to worry about when putting a little one to bed.

I’ve had mine for just under 6 years now, running, swimming, etc. and have had 0 issues.  Its also quite good in the accuracy category.  If you find the aesthetic appealing, its worth checking out.

Hope that helps and let us know what you decide on!

All the best,
Walid

Sports watch without lume

 By: Cozmopak : April 11th, 2021-13:26
With a toddler and a newborn in the house, I'm starting to get a bit nervous wearing some of my watches after a near-miss with my Gronefeld One Hertz! Any suggestions for a robust watch that's able to take a bit of a beating? I have a strange aversion to ...

The most robust choice would be ...

No lume, no problem. I hear it not frequent, lume not wanted. Knowing many friends are lume lovers. I am neutral about it, but it can give a watch some flair. Lumeless watches are certain important and great. I like it when a watch company have the guts t...

How about a WG or Platinum Richard Lange on a calf strap?!

Zero lume and looks killer as a sports watch. Let’s be honest... most people who know how to properly care for a watch don’t even beat their beaters. If you do beat on it, well, that’s not the worst thing either. I like the look of a thoroughly enjoyed (a...

I used to own a WG Richard Lange

Beautiful piece, but somehow never bonded with it.

Very interesting suggestion!

Thank you! I've been fascinated by spring drive movement for a while.

I agree; most GS have no lume

Left-field suggestion: A Cellini

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 11th, 2021-16:32
Hey, Rolex is an independent! Cellinis are tough, sporty enough, no lume. Get a new or a well-cared for pre-owned and wear it everywhere with no concern for wear and tear.

My answer the that same question was G-Shock, specifically the Metal.

The “lume” is on demand !

G-shock!!

Maybe an independent?

Not sure if they can take a beating or if they really are sports watches but fpj linesports in pm are lumeless. I like the idea of a pre-owned de bethune DB28 in zirconium on a rubber or textile strap, no lume and scratch proof case. That's spending someo...

Didn't you ask for a sports watch?

Considering the Principia a sports watch is stretching it a bit.
