Sharing some thoughts of the black and white duo in my small collection, the Montblanc Villeret Vintage Pulsographe and the Seiko Spring Drive SNR017. They are watches which are released back in 2008 and 2011 and are likely not in the radars of most collectors today. To be honest I didn’t even know about their existence until a few years ago when I first saw them on the wrists of two collector friends. It was a stroke of luck that I was able to acquire both of them after looking around for a few years.
I have been mostly wearing these two recently and really enjoy having them on the wrist. They each have their own unique characters and I personally find them very interesting and appealing in their own ways.
The Montblanc has a nice enamel pulsograph dial and Minerva movement in a compact 39mm case, the Seiko has a very cool monochromatic moonphase disc on a gorgeous black dial. The icing on the cake is its case which is multi-layered with beveled lugs. I believe Seiko doesn’t do such case in their watches anymore. These are the small details which really draw me to these understated pieces.
I guess for me, appreciating the watches that I already have and enjoying the experience of wearing them, is one of the most enjoyable aspect of collecting.
