Some pre-Richemont IWC love...

Jan 23, 2020,15:47 PM

I've recently been enjoying a couple of old loves from the late '90s. IWC was one of the pioneers in making tool watches from Titanium and these, while well used over 20+ years are still running well within COSC standards. Quite a tribute to their ETA-based movements.  They still have their original "fish crowns" as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to take the AT diving tomorrow.  Some tools just feel better the longer you use them.

Ah, the pre-Richemont IWC and JLC days. When the IWCs had the Teutonic simplicity of 80s-90s Mercedes-Benzes. And the JLCs had a special elegance. Nowadays both feel to me like they’ve lost what made them stand out - lost, I suppose, to marketing, brandin...

Great pieces! The brand that made me like watches.

After I discovered the brands history I fell in love with it but as soon as I encountered the structural restoration (german: KERN sanierung) it pushed me away.
