For the record, she who was then my future wife bought the family's first mechanical watch while I was still wearing quartz (although, in fairness, I had worn an inherited pocket watch for several years before entering the working world). I eventually passed her in both enthusiasm and number of watches, but not by much. She is a happy participant in PuristsPro in-person events, but only looks at the website when I show her something I think will be of particular interest.
