The white building behind the Stsrbucks used to be an NYU dorm. We used to wait for the bus to campus right in front of that clock. So strange to see it admired.
Yup! That was a dormitory! It's now a mixed use office building and luxury apartment building.

Funny, I almost rarely make it above 23rd street but I went to midtown today to see what Cellini does (or doesn't) have in stock. The independent side of the store felt very.... Empty 🙄

Sounds about right! I've always liked the low rise dense restaurant life between Chinatown and 14th Street. A little dirty maybe but all the food options 😂
I would have thought it was all good times for the Cellini guys too but they were a little salty about the market. The hottest market ever but no inventory to sell, brands behind on shipping existing allocations, and lots of angry and impatient customers....
Indeed! And a huge distrust between you and your customers, as some customers are reselling!
These reselling customers are sometimes making more margin than the store itself!

Try LA Burdicks
Unfortunately Burdicks, which is located in Boston, is very expensive. Around $80 a pound! That's about double Laderach's price in Europe, as it's around 70 Euros a kilogram!
Burdick's has been my go-to place for hot chocolate (winter) and iced chocolate (summer) for decades...
Their Boston store is located in what is increasingly becoming "watch central"! It's a frequent destination when visiting the stores.
Ahh. I make my own hot chocolate!
So easy! Just put in semi-sweet 51% cacao to 60% cacao chocolate chips into a saucepan. Then milk. Heat. Stir or whisk until the chocolate is dissolved in. So good.
