New member introduction - Hello!

Jun 16, 2019,16:51 PM

Hi all,

A WIS buddy turned me onto this site, and after browsing for a few days, figured I'd introduce myself. There is a wealth of knowledge here, and some great photos too! Apologies if this isn't the right forum.

I'm Daniel from Boston, have been a collector (and sometimes seller) for about 20 years, mostly mechanical tool watches. Love anything that is purpose-built, but do enjoy a wide range of timepieces from staples Omega, Panerai, and Rolex to microbrands. My present obsessions are alternative case materials such as zirconium, carbon fiber, and in particular brass and bronze, which I've been experimenting with various forced patina methods - natural patina example below.

Along with the watch gene, I also into cars, love technology (I lead engineering teams for a software development company) and am a reformed professional photographer, now enjoying it as a hobby.

Looking forward to sharing with the good folks here, and learning along the way.

Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Art. We can certainly use something *warm* in Boston -- unseasonably cold here. Thanks for the tip on Wrist Scan forum, still getting used to the UI here, but I'll be sure to check it out! Best, ~Daniel

Bostonians are welcome here!

Hey Cazalea, Sounds like you got to experience all our New England extremes Any chance that was 2015 when we got buried in 115+ inches of snow!? Nice pics too, looks like your crew made the best of it!

I’m thinking it was 2003

I don’t know how much snow fell but it was so hard and fast that Logan lost all their ground equipment - carts, trailers, tugs, etc under 6 ft of snow.

Yup

Patriots Nation

Glad you enjoy the city! Pat's Nation is a crazy bunch. I might get crucified for publicly stating this, but I'm not much of a sports person. Sure, I'll cheer for the home teams but don't really follow (saving that time to read the watch blogs 😀 ). When t...
