Memorial Day weekend, or . . .
May 26, 2019,18:08 PM
. . . a memorable one?
Two g-t-g's in less than 24 hours. First, hanging out with Kevin [log-in: Kevster] Friday afternoon. After a tortuous drive south to Long Beach in holiday traffic (78 miles=3 hours!), we met at his place and walked to the nearest Irish pub. No pics, sad to say, but we polished off a few pints of locally brewed red ale while catching up. Then Über-ed to a classier joint in the heart of downtown for a few shots of Powers.
Another hike to a different Irish pub . . .
. . . for more ale - this time, Smithwick's - and Powers.
Well and truly ripped, we Über-ed back for a listening session of Kevin's stereo. Parted company a few hours later, and then drove to my girlfriend's place.
Slept.
Then off to Pasadena to hang out with Chase and his buddies for Saturday brunch. Lotsa watches on tap . . .
. . . spread across two tables at a downtown café. These two pics capture perhaps a third of the haul brought by ten participants.
Seikos . . .
. . . galore. (The diver is modified, if memory serves correct.)
Grand Seikos, too.
Rolex, naturally.
Lesser-known, if not virtually unknown, manufacturers.
Honestly, I'd never heard of Nodus or Collins before. Collins is, if memory serves correct, a local (LA) endeavor. One doesn't see meteorite dials every day. This one's the first I've seen that isn't either a Rolex or an Omega.
Speaking of Omega, there were a few. Seamasters modern . . .
. . . as well as vintage.
This was the second time I'd met most of the participants, first or fourth for the rest. Great bunch of guys! Thanks for the invite, Chase, and hope to make another one of your gatherings soon.
