IWC x Rake x Revolution Pilot's Watch 36

Jan 16, 2019,14:02 PM

I think it's safe to post this as the watch was officially unveiled at IWC's booth in SIHH today and is already SOLD OUT.

This is IWC's collaboration with the Rake and Revolution.  A pilot's watch that is IMO the closest homage to the original IWC Mark 11 that has ever been made by IWC.

Limited to 150 pieces with delivery in January 2019 (yes, this month) this watch has a bronze case with 6 atm WR, sapphire crystal, titanium caseback and has a 36mm Ø which is very close to the original IWC Mark 11 size.

As you can see it has a "military" green dial and has the squared off hour hand like a proper Mark 11.  The hands are made of rose gold.  The big plus here is that it is also non-date.  The caliber is listed as 35100 which is a Sellita but it maybe a true non-date movement because the only other non-date Sellita caliber IWC uses I could find is a cal. 35110 which still has a date wheel.

The watch comes with 3 different straps: a Russian reindeer leather NATO made from hides salvaged from the wreck of the Metta Catharina, a textile NATO made by a supplier in Singapore, and a leather NATO made by Jean Paul Menicucci who is known for his Italian leather straps.

MSRP (before it sold out) was US$4,500 which is a bargain for what you get IMHO.

I was lucky enough to get my order in on Dec 31st, making this my very last purchase of 2018.

Compared to an original IWC Mark 11.

This is clearly the most interesting of the IWC bunch I am not a huge fan of the movement: is it really a bargain for the price? But it is a nice watch for sure. I wonder how the CEO feels when external advisers/bloggers do a better job than his own desig...

It would have been awesome if IWC could have supplied 150 cal. 89s for this watch

but maybe that's asking too much? Bargain is all relative. The Speedy Tuesday Ultraman lists over US$7K as did the Hodinkee10 Speedmaster. My PAM 721 lists at US$9,200. A stainless steel GMT-Master Pepsi ceramic has a MSRP of US$9,250 if you can even find...

Keep in mind that the CEO (99% of the time) is not looking for his design team to design a watch for the (relatively) small group that is the audience for this particular watch.

I agree with you insofar as I also really like the watch, because it has no date. But not because it's closer to the original but rather because to my eye it just looks better without a date window. That said, I believe I've read and heard (from brands, c...

Congrats to your incoming! I also ordered this one as soon as it was announced a couple of weeks ago. I've been waiting for a no-date IWC Mark 11 for a long long time...This is an awesome release..in my opinion.. Can't wait!

Congrats mj!

I wasn’t convinced initially because I’m not a fan of collaborative special edition watches; yet I bought one. This watch has a well executed design. It pays tribute to the vintage Mark 11 but is also a modern watch in its own right. Well priced I believe...

finally!!!

Almost bought it, then i cancel after i saw the new spitfire in bronze and 39 mm Which is better suited my wrist, although I'd prefer it without date as yours. And the new caliber in house is the thing that made my decision. Congrats for your new watch, h...

Update: Crazy price on the secondary market
