Introducing the New Urwerk UR-220 Falcon Project

Sep 25, 2020,10:46 AM

Just thought I'd share this information about the new Urwerk that I discovered was launched recently!

I'm just a big fan of military commando watches.  Especially the ones that are all black and sinister looking.

Cool things about this timepiece:

1.  It features a flyback hour hand pointer.  The three satellites have the numbers 1-12 on them; as the satellite reaches 8:59PM, the next satellite is already indicating 9:XX, and immediately at the top of the hour, the hollow arm that frames the satellite swings to the next hour in a "flyback" motion.
2.  The power reserve is really cool.  It's split.  When the watch is full, one indicates from 0% to 50%, the other 51% to 100%.  It's definitely a complex way to make a power reserve!
3.  Carbon fiber cases are nothing new, but one made with this kind of precision is altogether new.  This carbon fiber case has dozens of precise layers and was shaved off layer by layer to reveal the beautiful concentric circles of the carbon fiber layers.  If the layers aren't perfectly even, you will see that the concentric circles aren't perfectly concentric.  A great look that isn't achieved anywhere else!  Amazing!

4.  The backside has some cool features as well.  The service counter is especially awesome.  The watch will track how many months it's been in operation!  Very interesting!  I'd like to see a watch with 99 months on the odometer please!  However, Urwerk recommends that you service the watch sometime after 39 months, and Urwerk does not recommend waiting until 99 months of operation to service the watch.

5.  You see that there is a stainless steel pin on the back, you remove that pin to allow the grenade to explode, I mean the watch to start!
6.  Urwerk has really introduced a new concept; a run time odometer.  The first of any watch!  It's like a car odometer!  That's a clever idea!

Urwerk timepieces are definitely very cool and well appreciated by many collectors here on WatchProSite.  I can say from personal experience the ownership experience is very good as is the servicing experience.  The firm is small and personable enough to treat every client as an individual, not a "number."

Here is my Urwerk service experience write up:
www.watchprosite.com

I'm still counting my pennies for the Urwerk 105 model I'd like to add to my collection someday!  An Urwerk definitely belongs on every watch collector's wrist and every watch collector should consider an Urwerk for their collection.  There's nothing else quite like an Urwerk!

It is so cool how Urwerk breaks up their watches, it is like a command module with many things to observe and look through. So cool

It's a very cool looking tool watch that almost looks like a modern smart watch (I'm half expecting to see a computer screen), but is really a piece of high precision high horology!

Just a short write up for a brand I believe in. My favorite is the UR-105 with the metal cover! www.urwerk.com That's the one I'm coveting!

This one might be the coolest one yet. But I like the slightly less cool UR 105 model in all black. Here's a link: www.urwerk.com It doesn't have the cool "flyback" hour hand this UR-220 model has, but I just like the aesthetic. And I also regret ...

This watch has to be seen in person to be appreciated fully. Never paid attention to the Urwerk until i saw one in person. Just the 103.07.

The 210 or this 220 and the RM27-01 are my two sport watch grails. I was very sad to hear the 210 was being discontinued, only to be delighted we now have the 220. How I will ever be able to afford one is the real question but one can dream!
