Horological Meandering

I use a winder.

 

It's a windmill type that rotates the watches on two axes. A winder that rotates only one axis keeps the watch in the same plane at all times, concentrating the wear on the points on which the pivots rest in that plane. Through experimentation I have become convinced that single-plane winders at least reduce service intervals, if not actually causing damage.
