I'm glad I was wearing a 1675

Apr 07, 2020,23:02 PM

I got hit by a motorbike while crossing the road a few days ago. He came the wrong way and neither one of us saw the other. The watch took a bit of a beating but I'm glad I wasn't wearing a dress watch or something with a sapphire crystal or ceramic anything. The clasp is twisted and scruffed (those old Oyster clasps really are flimsy), the crystal took a bit of a hit at 6 o'clock. No real issues, thankfully.

For now, I think I'll just leave it as is. Just adds to the scratches its gathered over the years.

Hehehe... Why not! [nt]

Indeed, I was very lucky to not come away the worse.

Well, that's one way to make memories with your watch!

Yes, indeed. And thank you.

Most important thing is you were not injured. It´s real amazing the watch suffered so little. Polywatch can remove these plexi scuffs very easily. And I wouldn´t pay much attention to the...

Indeed so.

Thank you for the kind words, Abel. I don't mind the scratches at all. Just another addition to the scratches the plexi and the watch has gathered over the years. I've had this old fellow since 1978! As for the clasp, I twisted it back in shape so it clos...

Thanks again, Abel.

and your 1675 inspired me to share here a picture of my faithful ref 1680 which I bought brand new in February 1977 at a local AD. I always am amazed by the strengh, reliability and timeless design of Rolex watches! Keep enjoying yours !! Abel ...

I totally agree with you. As tool watches, pure watches to fulfill a function, they are hard to equal. My 1665 and 1655 have been trouble free even after decades of climbing and exploring expeditions. Thank you, friend.

Thank you so much for your kind comments Batholith! You confirm my thoughts with your similar experience. This watch had only one service along his outstanding ...
