I don't believe we've ever had a restriction on a seller wearing a watch listed for sale . . .
. . . and it would be a stretch to say doing so would be unethical. Hazardous, maybe, but unethical? No, we're not that straight-laced.

What this community has always found repugnant is the practice of posting a watch on a discussion forum, and then shortly afterwards posting it for sale on CM. That's where 'pump and dump' comes into play.
There will always be exceptions, and the rule isn't strictly enforced. It is, however, at a minimum a breach of decorum to parlay the visibility granted by the discussion forums. This sort of behavior is tolerated, if not common, on other sites, but frowned upon here.

The general rule used to be a three month separation between posting on a discussion forum . . .
. . . and Collectors Market. I don't think any moderator will be able to enforce what is essentially an unwritten rule, but two days separating discussion forum and CM posting is clearly contrary to the spirit of this site. Art

Seriously, I think almost everyone loses money over the long haul . . .
. . . on CM sales. It's really more for winnowing out an overgrown collection, or moving on watches that no longer hold our interest. Maybe the pro sellers make a few bucks, but even then, it's a tough way to make a living . . .
