What Is This?

Has anybody ever heard of this “Cortébert”brand? I just inherited this watch from an uncle who bought it new in the 1950’s ( so the story goes). I think it’s a pretty cool watch and would like to learn something about it. It’s small (34mm) and is a manual...

Beautiful watch!

Indeed there was a Cortébert brand. Even Rolex used Cortébert 8 day movements for some of the very first Panerai watches. I think It is your watch, but I would recommend you to ask your watchmaker not to polish anything and maybe a light gentle and carefu...

Thank you Rene’

This watch may not have much of a (financial) value, but it does not appear ( or feel) like “ junk”. I would like to have it serviced by someone who understands what it is. I live in California. Does anyone know who could treat this watch with care and re...

I live in Mexico

So I’m afraid I would know who to recommend in California, but I’m sure that some of our dear Purist friend at the USA will share a good watchmaker to service your watch. And no, your watch is no junk at all! Best. René

What a treasure!

You've inherited a lovely vintage triple date timepiece w/moon phase. The guilloche dial is stunning. Applied (it looks like) numerals and indices… Marvelous! You bet you should invest in a complete service. Although probably not the multi-day movement me...

Wow ! Very nice, congrats !

The day/date are in Italian, and I assume it is gold plated (or full gold ?). Cortebert is one of those many brands that disappeared, yet you can easily find vintage watches of that brand. This specific one is very nice (to me) because it does not have th...

I live in Southern California, about 10 miles away from Hollywood Boulevard. I have been wearing this little “Cortébert “watch for a day or so. It’s an excellent watch! Marvelous how accurate some of these pieces made far before the advent of quartz techn...

I can refer you to an excellent watchmaker in Ventura County . . .

Was established in 1790, in the Swiss villige of Cortebért. It was definitely s premium brand, supplying amongst others Rolex with movements. Cortebért also cooperated with IWC and licensed the production of the Pallweber movement. The brand was discontin...

For your kind response. I have come to really appreciate this little watch. It keeps excellent time and is a pleasure to wear. I was told years ago that there are very finely made timepieces manufactured by companies who were not a part of the “Homy Trini...

A little more information

I believe the movement is a caliber 677. with an added calendar/moon phase module. The case is probably “gold on steel” - also known as “ gold filled”. I would assume a collector would pay in the range of 3.000 - 4.000 USD for it. Some movement details ca...
