This is how I am going to set it up...

Hour hand=first time zone.

24 hour hand in reference to hour makers on the face=second time zone.

24 hour hand in reference to the bezel markers=third time zone.

How does 3 time work

 By: golfzhu : August 20th, 2010-00:28
I have a qn re LW's 3 time watch. The second time zone hour hand moves every hour or every 2 hours right? Either way it will use the bezel to tell 24 hour time or the counters to tell 12 hour time. How can it do both? I can't get this qn out of my head. P...

Bezel rotates.

Hi Frank, Never having handled one, my guess is that the 24hr bezel rotates. Thus you have: 12 hour hand referencing dial=time zone #1 24 hour hand referencing dial=time zone #2 (would be more helpful if the dial was graduated into 24 segments) 24 hour ha...

So inconvenient

Thanks. Practically it is easy to read 2 time zones. The 3 time is a bit of a stretch. The mind has to do a quick calculation to work it out. A sub dial is much better an option.

Here is mine as an example...

As stated before, there is a 12 hour first time zone, the inner 24 hour second timezone and the third timezone via a rotating bezel. I do not find it too difficult to read the third timezone from the bezel....

I think the original poster was asking about a different watch

specifically the Linde Wederlin 3 Timer. JF

Oops

Sorry about that!

No worries

Yours is perfect and easy to read. LW's simply not practical tonread 3 time zones easily. How could they not think of it?

Confused by your post...

Why do you think the 3-Timer is any harder to read than that Tutima? At least the 3-Timer has a 24-hr hand that is close to the 24 hr bezel, and not half a radius away. Hey ho. Each to their own.

Diff is

Tutima has three rings of counters while LW only has two. The 24 hour hand can tell one time easily on the bezel but not the second time. One has to do a quick calculation using the dial counters.

That's a nice watch...

...which I haven't seen before. I thought my Rolex GMT II was pretty clear but that's the clearest three timezone watch I have seen. Unfortunately it looks too fashionably large for my taste, but if I had to have a watch for frequent international travel ...

Thanks Steve

for your kind words. The Tutima is 38.5 mm, I think the shot makes my 7" wrist look small.

Agreed. Altho I note that Rolex...

... only advertise the current GMT as showing two time zones, perhaps reflecting that the third requires a little work (as the OP suggests). I personally don't have an issue with reading the third time zone on any GMT / UTC watch, but can no see why some ...

I have to say in picture at least the LW is a good looking watch. in practice I think 2 time zones easily read is useful enough. Is it difficult to get these LW watches? they come in very small numbers. Are they trying to follow in Panerai's foot steps?

LW comes in limited numbers but...

to say that LW is following Panerai's foot step I think thats a bit unfair or all other brands. Anyhow... my 3 Timer has landed and should be on my wrist in a day or so... will post pics as soon as I am able. It is a gorgeous looking watch... something di...
