Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture.

For those who are after a serious worldtimer but don't want to spend too much money, there are some alternatives to the stars of the category such as Patek, Vacheron, Jaeger Lecoultre, Girard Perregaux and so on...

I knew one of them, the Montblanc Orbis Terrarum, and I am just discovering this one, the Frederique Constant Classique Worldtimer Manufacture, which is available in steel and in rose gold plated, both in a limited edition of 718 pieces.

The steel:

What do we have here? A 42 mm case, water resistant to 50 meters.

A superb map of the world.

A circular date, which is a good compromise, as everybody will be happy, those who really want a date, and those who don't want to see the date making a hole in the dial.

A 24 cities ring, coupled to a 24 hours ring.

And luminous indices and hands which are not too small.

Another interesting detail, on, or should I say in this watch, the movement, the Cal FC 718, automatic, and... In house.

Here are two other pictures sent by the Manufacture.

As we can see, the dial has relief, and seems to be quite eye catching. This is a point to be confirmed once I can see the watch in the real life.

A bad point: The choice of the rose gold PLATED... In my opinion, they should have opted for a solid rose gold case, or nothing. It sounds a bit like a cheap option. Too bad.

Two good points: The price: 3500 Euros for the steel version, 3800 Euros for the gold plated edition, which is truly competitive for a world time with an in house movement.

AND, last but not least... The fact that you can set the world time and the date WITHOUT having to use a pusher! Bravo to them for that.

Now I have to confirm these first positive feelings, which will only be possible when I see the watch in the real, to judge the dial and the proportions of the case.

Best,

Nicolas

U say frederique piguet, u know the company is not relevant enough. Jk, FC is a great company with a very relevant lineup. I own the slimline moonphase, their new chrono in blue gold is amazing as well. The only thing i dont like is the fact that all (!) ...

Hmmm, no...

FC copies other brands... so I have trouble finding enthusiasm here. very Patek, very JLC... and in general their catalogue is just copycat designs... with great and deep respect to YOU, Nicolas. May I ask WHY you feel the desire to feature an FC? Honest ...

Of course!

I looked at this watch just awhile ago in steel with a olive green strap and I must say it is very impressive. I am by no means a judge but at the price point tempting.
