Good question

=D

1) Omega Tresor “orbis” edition - has a teddy bear as the number 8 date numeral, and a gold bridge behind. Around 8k brand new
2) Blancpain Villeret Complete Calender in stainless steel. Should be around 12k brand new after discounts, if in USD. Has a nice broody moonphase, and a neat adjuster tucked under the lug. Need to haggle for a 20% discount it you are able to. I could.
3) Habring2 deadbeat seconds - this should be just right fot the budget. Stealthy piece
4) GO Sixties Chronograph annual edition. This year is in green (i call it the Eye of Agamoto). 8k USD will do. Beautiful sleek piece.

Dress Watch Input

 By: Ssherman855 : August 29th, 2022-03:19
Hello All- curious on your input for a dress watch. Starting a very exciting new chapter in my career and would like to celebrate that. I have a few front runners in mind but purposely leaving them off to prevent any potential bias. A few items of criteri...

Submitted for your consideration: Omega Trésor . . .

 By: Dr No : August 29th, 2022-03:30
. . . Power Reserve. Technically advanced manual wind, sleek appearance, not overly large at 40 mm, and well under budget. Art ...

Thank you very much for the quick response

I have seen your passion for Omega, understandably so. This is a piece I have not tried yet, I do like the black configuration. Thanks again

What an underrated gem!

My personal choice in the collection would be this version: ...

I didn't know this one.

Yes, thank you!

JLC has a few on my high list, this included. I have never felt comfortable with the rectangle case shape on my wrist but certainly worth another go

You could try it in the medium size

 By: andrea~ : August 29th, 2022-05:45
At first it felt strange for me to wear a rectangular watch as well, but getting used to it didn't take long, now I crave wearing it almost every day! ...

I love the world time

 By: andrea~ : August 29th, 2022-05:40

Let's hope to see it making a comeback in the future...

Maybe in a different but similar form

+1

The Geophysic TS is very good value for money. No wonder they discontinued it. I always suspected it was discontinued because the profit margin is very low for that piece.

I prefer the Worldtime

In steel. Oh it is gorgeous and regal.

Me too.

I'm going to suggest a couple of obvious choices and a not so obvious one

Buy a Laine V38

 By: sham1 : August 29th, 2022-07:10
It is a great dress watch which you can customise and it uses the reliable Vaucher 5401 automatic movement which has been hand engraved. For me without doubt, the best dress watch within your budget unless you prefer a manual wind watch in which case, go ...

Yes!

 By: andrea~ : August 29th, 2022-07:22
Can't believe I forgot the V38... It's such a good value for what you pay. You get 4 interior angles at 10k

+1 for the Laine, and you can customise it too!

Other contenders if you wanted a complication 1. Reverso Duo 2. Nomos Metro with power reserve 3. Grand seiko Sbga413 with Sakura dial The Longines heritage with black sector dial and bracelet is also pretty cool and definitely well priced.

should fit the bill-if you can wait that is-40 week waiting list

A few for consideration

All the pix taken from the respective brand website. ...

Would suggest a pre owned Patek 3919 or 3520.

 By: LS : August 29th, 2022-10:47
Neither have a complication or is new. But in my opinion a quintessential dress watch should be uncomplicated, very thin, PM if it is in the budget, and from the best brand one can afford. Good luck! Happy hunting

+1, Patek Philippe 🥂👍

Depending on how liberal you are with your definition of “dress watch” I would add another vote for Habring.

 By: Jay (Eire) : August 29th, 2022-13:44
You have a few choices at 38.5m case and less than 10mm thickness. For example I own a dead seconds (Erwin) which is 9mm thick and 38.5mm. Others have mentioned Laine, but only the V38 has the proportions to pass as a dress watch. However, you don’t get y...

I second (or third or fourth) the JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon recommendation

 By: vitalsigns : August 29th, 2022-16:19
Super nice watch. Great size and easy to wear. Has a moon phase complication. Can go both casual and dress. Multiple dial options to choose from: classic silver, black or blue. And it's well within your price range.

My short list of brands to consider

Some offer multiple models that would work, most have been mentioned by others. JLC Omega Glashutte Original Blancpain Habring Kudoke Laine Montblanc Grand Seiko I would probably get a JLC Master Control or Reverso, the Laine V38, GO Senator Excellence, o...

For such engagement and wonderful recommendations. Certainly have helped reinforce some of my original choices as well as sparked some new. I am especially appreciative for some of the independent/bespoke recs as they were not on my radar prior. Please fe...
