Yesterday I celebrated half a century of mrds, and as with many in this community, I gifted myself a timepiece for this occasion. I didn’t go for a high complication or grail piece though. I wanted it to be unique. I wanted to be able to look back in 10 years and still remember the day. So - what’s it gonna be?
In came our dear friend patrick_y with his post of Dalibor Farny‘s nixie clock. And I was smitten. A thoughtful combination of ancient and modern technology (using 50‘s tubes for display but cloud connection and ntp protocol for timing and a very cool app to control everything). Executed flawlessly in a minimalist, timeless package. It ticked all the boxes. Plus, it’s a great reference clock to set my watch of the day when I pick it up in the mornings.
I was humbled to learn Patrick even contacted Dalibor to sign the clock on the underside! Many thanks, dear friend!
Here it is, in all its 50s glory. I hope you like it as much as I do.

…plus the mandatory „wrist shot“ 😄
Thanks for watching!
