Lost chronograph pusher on Type XX 16 days ago. Phone Breguet. "We'll collect it tomorrow morning." I expected courier. Not so. Man from Breguet, 225 km away, arrives at 10.30. "We'll phone you, sir." 14.00, phone rings: "Just to confirm, sir, that your watch is now in our service department. We'll be in touch."
6 days later, Breguet phone & email with estimate for (1) repair & (2) repair with service. Service is not mandatory. Service Manager says, "Amplitude is a bit down, but the watch is performing quite well. 'Repair' will be just that. 'Service' means complete disassembly & replacement of all worn parts. If you opt for service, please stipulate that hands must not be replaced, because luminous compound on hands, dial & (often missing) bezel triangle have all aged beautifully and match." I opt for repair.
Watch returned today by courier. Invoice: "pushpiece steel, gasket O-ring, gasket glass, gasket 035[?], rack, pawl, labour & carriage." And a Breguet travel case & 2-year warranty. GBP115.
