What is the point of that moon phase indicator on the case back side? Seems redundant

Higher precision with the markers on the back when setting the moonphase

Setting a moonphase with a three-dimensional sphere can be hard. I'd always be guessing if I'm looking exactly straight onto the sphere or at an angle. Flattening it to two dimensions with markers is far easier for setting. Reminds me of when I used to sw...
