A tool watch is meant to serve some functions - diving, timing, etc and has to be durable.
In the universe of tool watches, whether expensive or not, the manufacturer has to ensure minimum durability and reliability for the intended purpose and function. I will group “luxury or expensive tool watch” in the same category as a high end camera, collectible fountain pen, etc Is one better than the other putting aside subtleties such as craftsmanship, materials used, etc. Do we ask an author or photographer what brand of pen or camera he or she uses to write or take pictures? While kinda oxymoron when it comes to describing such items, it boils down to how much one is willing to spend or if one gives a hoot if the watch is banged up.
For me, I will wear those that can withstand some harsh handling and be easily repaired or replaced at reasonable cost. In my collection, the Doxa ranks high.
By the way, nice Doxa and shorts combo dear Cpt. 😉
