Nice to discus square watches.

For me an undiscovered subject.
In my childhood i remember i wore Casio digital watches.
I knew the Cartier Santos from this community and other watch communities. I seen one in a boutique a few years ago when i bought this round watch.
I spied also the big blued Omega planet Ocean.

Anyone else likes square watches?

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-12:25
While the market is dominated by round watches,I always had a sweet spot for square and rectangular watches. Unfortunately many (most) of these watches are not a good fit for my wrist;some great designs like the Tag Heuer Monaco,JLC Reverso,Hermes CarréH,...

I didn't know that Rado

Own the OF, which belongs to the unlimited list of integrated steel (or other metal) bracelet. That Rado looks really really cool

This Rado was also a discovery to me.

When I saw it however I could not resist....

I do like square watches . Don’t own a lot tbh

...

Wow,these are some funky cool watches!!

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-15:27
For most I did not even know they existed.

That Rado looks very nice.

To me the aesthetic is super clean. Would love to see one in person. Re “squares”, yes. I’m a fan too. The Octo for me is the most appealing of the bunch, there’s just a whole lot to like from the design, to the metal and therefore feel on the wrist. The ...

+1

I really like the Rado. It is a masterclass of design.

This topic hits my nerves!

I am looking fr a square watch to seal my watch buying impulse. I just saw this in the window display today. Saw the green dial with diamond the other day. But nay, I probably will never buy a PP as it a significant sum that I cannot bear to part with and...

You have a list of very nice watches ....

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-15:31
The Hermes CarreH was so tempting to me but felt unfortunately a bit too big on my wrist.

Really? I got smart wrist as well but it fits just nice.

Was mulling to get it recently but got the sea master instead. Posted this somewhere before. This as well. ...

With these square watches, the shape of the wrist is essential.

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-15:49
On my bony wrist, the Hermes somehow did not look right....even recognized by the sales lady

Count me . . .

. . . in! Rectangles rule ;-) . . . ...

Gorgeous pieces !!

Unfortunately Omega has no longer any square/rectangular watches in their current collections.

Sweet!

I have the Same experience as you've described.

While I find square or rectangular watches interesting, Most of them don't sit well on my wrist. That's why the Octo finissimo is my only watch of that category.

The ultra thin profile of the OF really helps the wearability.

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-18:08
I am pretty sure that the same watch with a higher profile would be difficult on my wrist.

Yeah I like them too (but not all)

 By: Jurry : August 6th, 2021-17:20
Not necessarily perfectly rectangular or square watches, but I consider cushion shapes etc to the category square as opposed to round watches. The Bulgari (I realize I am one of not many that will say this) is in my humble opinion the least attractive one...

Oh yes,the VC 1921 would be also my winner amongst them all.

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-18:10
I always admire the pictures of your PT version and the new white gold model is very high on my list. Dangerously, the 1921 sits well on my wrist ....

Definitely :)

I'm stuck on one at mo & it's rectangular rather than square Though I'm not complaining ! Cheers JML ...

I love the Reverso's.

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-18:12
Every time I see it on another person's wrist I want one! But unfortunately the shape of the Reverso and the shape of my wrist are ennemies ...

History

 By: Weems@8 : August 7th, 2021-06:45
I belief there are many reasons why round is accepted as normal. Pocket watches from centuries ago. The dial of a clock. Sun hand. Practicality: Better water resistance. No sharp edges that can pring in skin or in a pocket of a pair of trousers. Round is ...

The large majority of my watches are also round.

 By: jlux : August 7th, 2021-07:00
Within a larger collection it is however fun to have also a few square and cushion shaped watches to break the uniformity.

Petit collection

 By: Weems@8 : August 7th, 2021-07:07
My petit collection is petit. Albeit, i want over a watch of three a rectangular and tonneau. The rectangular is one of these Cartier references: WWSA0037 or WWSA0030. The chronograph WWSA0017, i wait when Cartier launches a time only ref of this Santos. ...

Your squares look superb

I am a great fan of square and rectangle watches and I love your Rado. George

Thanks, yes, the Rado stands out proud against the others.

 By: jlux : August 6th, 2021-21:49
And Rado does ceramic so well !!

I feel that square watches inject some vibrancy into the scene

 By: charsiewfan : August 7th, 2021-02:51
One example is Rado. The True Square Undigital, as shared by the thread starter, is an interesting piece. But for me, the Tej Chauhan Edition adds a different touch with its playful take and vibrant colours. I really think we need more of such bold watche...

The yellow edition of the Rado is superb as well.

 By: jlux : August 7th, 2021-06:57
I was also very tempted by that one....

I have had the chance to wear that for a short while.

 By: charsiewfan : August 8th, 2021-02:16
It is a nice watch, but my two small gripes are (i) it is hard to pair with your clothes and (ii) I had to be extremely careful because I was afraid I might get the strap dirty (then again, maybe because it belongs to someone else, so yes I had to be real...

Same as you I had some doubts about the leather strap.

If this version would come with a matching yellow ceramic bracelet it would be a killer!

I tried the full black version and really loved it!
