So what is Patek, AP and Vacheron thinking?
Jun 05, 2021,18:29 PM
So in this thread it's pretty clear patek absolutely skipped some work on the dial, Vacheron has done absolutely nothing to revamp their ageing lineup and calibres, and AP's new 1159 is now just a pre-requisite of getting a RO. Just what in the world are they thinking? Do they really think Lange will not catch up and whatever story they sold will be sufficient?
The new Patek calibre used in the 6119 is undoubtedly good, but criminally under performing compared to the Lange's 1815 calibre. On an IG page (and youtube channel) where the Patek 6119 is pitted against the 1815, it's clear that the 1815's movement finish is much better than the Pateks, and even the anti-reflective coating on the 1815 is better as there's barely any reflections on the glass cover.
A brand new movement, at a higher price point from Patek failed to beat the 1815 in terms of everything. Vacheron's even worse, their automatic and manual caliber 99% of the time is too small for the case they use, absolute laziness from a top brand. AP is nothing apart from Royal Oak, it's a joke how bad they are.
How arrogant can Patek, AP and Vacheron be? They're charging a higher price than Lange and giving so much less. In the channel's vote where the Patek and Lange are put head to head Patek lose out by a considerable margin (around 40-60). Vacheron is just too busy catering the ultra high net worths so their mass market models are just piss poor technically, while AP is all about RO and nothing else. The only thing saving Patek, AP and Vacheron is that Lange's production scale is so much lower otherwise their product doesn't even hold a candle towards the Langes. It's frustrating to see the holy trinity selling stories only and underperforming Lange's so significantly, it's almost like ripping off their customers. Pay 50% more for 50% less of the same thing. Why? Do they really think they get a free pass for simply existing longer? I just don't understand
