Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture, 2021.

I wanted to share with you a new release from Alpina, which I find very interesting, the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture.

Interesting it is, for three reasons.

First and most important, a reminiscence of the Past, with this modern bumper movement which belongs to a bygone era, as it disappeared at the end of the 50's, early 60's, replaced by the rotor we all know, now.

The vintage:

Here, a picture of the Cal AL 709, which is automatic, of course, beating at 28, 800 vibrations per hour and with a 38 hours power reserve. The finishings are not top, for sure, but I find it pleasant to see:

Then, because its case and dial are original, too. A cushion shaped case, 42 mm big, 13, 25 mm high, which is available in steel ( my preference ) or in yellow gold plated, water resistant to 100 meters good enough to face most of the situations we can live.

The dial is really cool with this red lume on the hands and indices.

And for once, I find that the idea of a see through case back is excellent, as there is something uncommon and interesting to see, the bumper. I think it is the first time that we can see a bumper through a case back!

Third and last interesting thing, the price: 3250 CHF for the steel, 3350 CHF for the yellow gold plated, that is quite fair.

A last information: Both of these versions are limited to 188 pieces.

What do you think?

Best,

Nicolas

The case is very 70s... a little too much for me

but that movement looks very interesting and quite beautiful in its own way. I would love to learn more

The case shape is really cool here…

it is great to see brands go off the beaten track and innovate aesthetically

I like it, because we haven't seen this and it is attractive and fairly priced. I wish they made a higher production is steel so it could be more easily viewed in person.

I've never understood gold plated. You get the concern of attracting attention without the benefit of the weight. Thank you for sharing.

Same for me.

Me too

I like it. I still have my Grandfather’s bumper Omega. And yes, you can notice it if you’re paying close attention. Cazalea

Absolutely!

I think it would have been more interesting in bronze than gold plated. I think both colors work well quite frankly. I don't see it on their website though.
