Airport Watch Spotting

May 12, 2022,15:53 PM

I arrived to the airport very early and decided to walk around for the sole purpose of watch spotting and found it pretty interesting, also learned my eye isn’t as good as I hoped it would be. It made me think if people would actually enjoy talking about their watch while killing time at the airport or would it be weird. Also made me think how many are enthusiasts vs it being gifted to them etc.

It seemed like there were more people wearing Apple/Garmin watches then none at all, fitbits were a very distant third. Next we’re quite a bit of Fashion and Quartz watches- most I could not identify. After Quartz was a myriad of different Rolex, surprisingly not one GMT, however there was a lady well into her 60s wearing a blue dial Sky Dweller which I thought was very cool. I found an aquaterra with the grey dial and blue indices (my favorite), several Panerai which was not expecting to out do Omega. Several Tags mostly Autavia and Aquaracers, a time only RO, a very cool small seconds Reverso (I wanted to talk to him but was on a call) saw several lady Pashas but no tanks and many others I couldn’t look at well enough without being a total creep.

I regularly fly through Charlotte, Chicago, and Dallas. I am always on the lookout for nice watches — Rolex Subs and Datejusts are not uncommon; same with Omega Speedies and Seamasters. I rarely, almost never, see a PP or a VC. Yesterday, I saw a man with...
