A very very very important topic
You brought up perhaps one of the most important topics in watch collection. Period.
I wonder why it has been brought up so little. Lets admit it. We all have gone through cycles.
I am just going through a major cycle. As I get older and learn more my taste has changed. It also
helps that I have more means which to play with now as well.
As the amount of an ideal collection. Well that is very personal. For some its 2-3. For others 20-30. And
for the complete addicts it is over 100.
I have downsized to 18 now and am letting another 2-3 watches go. For me an ideal collection
is about 15-20. I think you can have a diverse and important collection with around 20 watches,
it does not need to be much more. That my personal opinion.
However it is a real struggle to keep it down that low. I love diving watches from the 1950s and 1960s. But I also love chronographs.
I also like original Reverso from the 1930s. Ahh if only there was not so much choice out there. I think
I will go through two more cycles before I get it right. Its really part of game and a challenge. Its keep our mind
occupied. It lets us dream when we have so many other things to worry about in life.
Collecting can be frustrating but also very rewarding. Thank you for bringing up a super important topic!
