A UFO has landed on my wrist...

Last Friday I took delivery of my eagerly awaited Gorilla Fastback Drift!

What a watch! It's actually not a watch, it seems more like an interstellar time machine from the year 2196!

I guess you are familiar with the technical specs (If not, see previous post of 'Horology75' (https://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf.forumpost/fi-16/pi-9999451/ti-1220546/s-0/t--gorilla-watches-launches-a-swiss-watch-with-a-swiss-movement-by-vaucher-fastback-drift-limited-edition-shortlisted-for-gphg-2018-challenge-category/)

It was actually the above post which made me aware of the Drift (thank you 'Horology75'!). I was absolutely amazed and smitten when I first saw the pictures of the Drift. I instantly knew: I NEED to own one! It just seemed like a fantastic opportunity to get hold of a horologically really interesting watch without burning a hole in my wallet.

The unboxing was first a little bit underwhelming. There was a tiny package on my desk. What struck me most was how light it was when I picked up the box. The watch comes in a very understated foam-like black box. BUT, as soon as you open the box, you realize that your are being sold inner values! Unlike with other brands who make a big fuzz in the packaging (big wooden boxes etc.), the Drift is 'drifting' your attention to the watch itself without distraction of the packaging.

Handling the watch for the first time was a great experience. The materials used and how they have all been combined is outstanding imo. The ceramic is glossy and shiny, the aluminium has a frosty look and the carbon feels velvety. This watch screams 'scratchproof'! You could go mining with your bare hands with this watch without scratching it.

It is indeed a big and bold watch. However it wears very comfortably. As you can see from the pictures, it is kind of hugging your wrist and it does surprisingly fit under your cuff. The crown is a piece of art by itself. It could be a device which was designed for a Star Wars movie, just beautiful! The dial is mesmerizing and just can't stop glaring at it. I also love the way the carbon has a layered look (versus a flaky-look).

The fact, that Octavio wrote a personalised thank you on the guarantee certificate is showing real appreciation and estimation to you as customer...not sure if you get that in many other brands...

All in all, I'm extremely happy and proud to own one of the limited Drift models! If you are looking for a non-ordinary watch, off the beaten track, don't have a 'girls-wrist' and are not a brand-snob, I can only encourage you to order yours! You will certainly not regret it! You get an awful lot of bang for your buck!

I hope you enjoyed my review and the pics. Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts.

Best regards

The swiss guy

This is indeed a very cool watch, especially at that price point. Congrats! I was very tempted when I first found out about it but was worried about the fit. I do have “girls’ wrists”...... around 6.25/ 6.5 inches and I did not think it will fit. As there...

My wrist is approx 7.25 inches [nt]

Hmmm..... is it snug for you? How do you think it would be on a smaller wrist? Cheers, Chi Kai

As you can see in the pictures

The 00 - 60 register is minutes. The number on the "hand" that is within the minute register is the hour and it points to the minutes. M4
