Which matters more for performance, good tires or good wheels? Perhaps a cheeky analogy, but you really need both.
But I should point out that "good" movement architecture is not necessarily visually pleasing. But it's nice when brands can find a way to achieve their technical objectives in a pleasing layout, and perhaps deserving of a premium.
As a reminder, some aspects of finishing (hand vs machine-engraved lettering, etc) are purely decorative and can be added (or not) without impacting performance. But many aspects of traditional finish are important to the function of the watch and really should not be considered separately from the design (the architecture, layout, use of space, materials, etc) of the movement.
