Did you polish it, or just let it be?

I did a very similar painful scratch and ding

but on my refrigerator rather than my watch. Twice! And not a very good touchup job either! Oven door if left slightly open to cool, impacts the left refrigerator door on a sharp angle. Under all other conditions the clearance is fine. I feel your pain on...

Wow, you did a number on that fridge. 😬😬

That Seiko looks awesome “worn.” Which is cool about it, and other rugged sport watches.

That Seiko was one I serviced for a friend, AFTER the cleaning

He was an oceanographer and had been to all 7 oceans with it. Close your eyes if you are bothered by damage! The hand-made nylon NATO strap was really revolting and crusted. ...

Jeez!!!!

Oh my gosh!!! 😬😬😬😬😬 You got it replaced?

Yes, it required a full service since it also had a broken rotor axel.

 By: ZSHSZ : July 2nd, 2020-10:18
I also dropped my Platinum Datograph on the kitchen tile, my AP Safari got a 2mm chunk out of the bezel, which required replacement, and the list goes on... In my twenty years of collecting I became a black belt in watch testing.😂 They’re just watches, ob...

"black belt in watch testing" I like that !

 By: Seeks : July 2nd, 2020-10:38
The diamond won 🤦‍♂️😅 Normal day at the office. Someone with a large diamond ring grazed my blue white gold reverso. Left a dink right next to the crown . What are the odds ? low .. but as per the law of large numbers, it happened. oh well. With watches t...

Ooh that is a beautiful Reverso!

 By: K-Lo : July 2nd, 2020-10:44
Great that you kept great spirits after the diamond!

It took awhile !

 By: Seeks : July 3rd, 2020-01:45
Have you decided what to do with your dink?

I want to try to let it be, or maybe

Don’t plan on polishing service soon?

Never gonna polish!

 By: Modernahab : July 2nd, 2020-14:20
I'd only ding them up again after an hour's wear, anyway. I will get the crown on my Memovox replaced next time it's serviced, though.

I like this attitude.

 By: K-Lo : July 2nd, 2020-14:21
I need to learn.

Yes!

 By: K-Lo : July 2nd, 2020-14:21

 By: amanico : July 2nd, 2020-15:27

Yeah, well, that's supposed to be Panerai's super-hard, wear-resistant "Ceramica" material. 🧐

 By: Modernahab : July 2nd, 2020-18:25
Actually just a ceramicized coating on aluminum, as I understand it. Obviously very thin, and questionably wear-resistant, to boot. I'm waiting to see what happens to the case, which is the same material. 🤞

bvlgari octo what metal?

 By: wellingtoncromwell : July 3rd, 2020-08:10
is it titanium or matte stainless steel?

Yes, feel better. ;)

 By: wellingtoncromwell : July 3rd, 2020-08:11
are the dings at 6:30 and 6:34 near the bezel screw at 6:35? it doesnt look too deep

Yes, had that 3 dings in one go, just didn’t know how I got them.

 By: Noak(marc.gmt8) : July 3rd, 2020-09:50
Luckily, it only looks deep under a loupe/microscope. It bothered me for the first 5 mins and I moved on after that.

Chipping in to help you feel better.

I beat the hell out of my watches, dont feel bad...late to the party..great thread!

 By: D-TIME1 : July 4th, 2020-07:13
I am always upset at first when I notice the bad dings, scratches or scuffs...but i buy my watches to wear and it ends up adding character to the piece! -D- Ran into the corner of the wall, drywall scuffed the hesalite between the 1 and 2 marker right on ...

Good Sire!

 By: K-Lo : July 4th, 2020-07:27
Wonderful pieces! Definitely some love going on there. The “wear” on your pieces look great, hoping to see more of your pieces soon. 😉😉
