You found watches that weren't shown on other websites, love the De Bethune chronograph.(so nice to see one without a tachymetre scale, or should that be "tacky")

The 2019 Basel Report

 By: Jocke - Bad Santa : March 29th, 2019-11:56
On the way and now it's time for the prepare at the airport with a great breakfast. Up we go. Classic Swiss Air lunch. On the train to Basel from Zürich. Finally here. Not so many visitor this year, 22% lesser and a lot of lesser exhibitors. So this year ...

It's hard to say but one thing is sure, I can't afford it. :-)))

So many cool independents, Grönefeld is one on my wish list.

Thank you.

Very sharp photos and the food pics have made me hungry. M4

Just thanks

I would like to comment on any of these, but just... wow.

Excellent photo report, Jocke. And it was certainly not easy, due to light conditions! Thanks for such an impressive coverage. Which makes me think that...

1/ I really should ask to Max Busser the possibility to organize a photo session. It's been a too long time I didn't meet him and that I didn't see his watches. 2/ The GMT MASTER Météorite is THE watch I most want to see in the metal, from the Basel novel...

The meteroite dial works best on a Daytona with red hands IMO

I don't listen to the Moser, we only have it for a short time.

Hi Jocke

Thank you for the hard work to put this fabulous Collage together, I took my time and really enjoyed the pictures and your brief but knowledge comments.. Are there multiple meteorite dial GMT’s with different Hands? I am considering acquiring one for my c...

Thanks, Jocke, for the tough work!

De Bethune and MB&F clearly stole the show. I am largely unimpressed by the rest - forgive me my ignorance. What really disturbs me though is the gravy on the Schnitzel!! Best, Daniel

This is a great report. Thanks for putting it together.

I will have to come back to it a few times to fully appreciate all the pictures and new watches. Cheers, John

Hello...please declare both your flashy watches to the Swiss custom...

The commentary adds to the pictures. "Ice, baby, ice!"

That Moser Avanta black is fascinating

By: COUNT DE MONET : March 29th, 2019-14:54
Thank you (both?) for this comprehensive report.

I was there but

 By: Centurionone : March 29th, 2019-15:51
I actually enjoyed looking at your photos more! The Vantablack is quite an experience, the blackest thing I have ever looked at.

And here I was planning a guy's trip for next year!

 By: oakeslee : March 29th, 2019-20:44
No longer....this report does me just fine at a slightly less cost. Kudos to you guys and thank you so much for all of the pics. Tremendous recap!

Wow...great share Jocke !

 By: mahesh : March 29th, 2019-23:18
I can imagine the efforts it takes - appreciate it. Love the Moser all black, the MB&F rotor from women’s collection. Best, Mahesh.,

An incredible photo journey

 By: keks : March 29th, 2019-23:49
It must have been a lot of fun and efficiently spent time on your trip. A most comprehensive photo tour and I feel as if I was there in person. It is a great joy to see a lot of pieces that have not been given as much attention As they deserve. I have to ...

Personal favourites are not easy to say

 By: Jocke - Bad Santa : March 30th, 2019-05:33
but Grönefeld is growing on me. The biggest disappointment was Swatch Group was not there becaue thay was a big patr of the fair and this is the first report in long time without Glashütte Original included. At least we run into the former CEO Frank Mülle...

Thanks for the wonderful report!

 By: Fla25 : March 30th, 2019-02:07
And the very detailed pics! I saw the Grönefeld live and really like it especially the one with salmon dial, even if I know the price is really far from my budget! cheers Flavio

Thank you all for the kind words [nt]

Another great post...thank you.

 By: NautNut : March 31st, 2019-07:10
the fries with gravy was spot on.

Some watches that I love, some that I appreciate less but... all are fantastic crisp shots!

 By: Mike H : March 31st, 2019-07:37
Many many thanks to you my friend for this great report. I could not attend the show this year for obvious health reasons as you know but with your great report I have the impression I was there with you. Merci Bas Santa Mike

Simply the best!

This is one of the best Basel short report I read/seem so far all these years. Nomos is drawing my interest with their own movement. Thank you sir!

Thanks as always Jocke

Great report and I really enjoy seeing the innovations and beautiful watches being created. Things I will never get to see in person, sadly.
