Anyone have experience with RGM?

In particular, custom work by RGM. They are one of the few brands (and the only one that I know of in the US) that will build a case, dial, and handset from the ground up. Does anyone here have experience with their work? What did you think? Thanks for th...

Former owner here . . .

. . . of an RGM 222. It seems you're asking about experience with the company rather than thoughts about the product. Communication was ok, but there was a long period between the time payment was made and watch received on account of a custom strap order...

Looks good Art ...

Did you enjoy owning it ?

Well . . . not exactly. The experience was kinda like driving . . .

. . . a Hemi 'Cuda. You bought one back in the day for . . . . . . the engine. Awesome sight, pulled like a bat out of hell. But as a driver? Unbalanced. That's how I felt about the 222. Gorgeous movement - on par with a Patek 9"'-90 - but inadequately su...

Good analogy...

and when it comes to aggravation, you need to trade it on for a different model, just make sure you get one with a performance pack )

Thanks for the info

I am curious about how you felt about the product as well, but information about the purchasing/custom experience is just as valuable. Poor communication is incredibly tiring, especially if the project is complicated.

I bought the RGM 222 without the benefit of . . .

. . . real-life experience. The movement view was, and still is, utterly compelling. But a movement does not a watch make. Had the case design been less prominent and stylized, I might've been able to bond with it. And I still think about having another c...

Makes sense

The allure of bespoke watchmaking has to be there to justify the extra trouble and cost. I am glad to hear though that it was still a good watch in technical terms.

I recently recorded a podcast with Roland G Murphy.

I really enjoyed that conversation. Like Art, I’ve also owned Model 222 before and now own the EOT watch. Both have been great. From all I’ve heard, the customer service is great and they are willing to work with you to customise stuff. So - that’s a “rec...

. . . do so. I'm sure others would like to hear it - I know I would. Art

It’s on “Fifth Wrist Radio” podcast - available wherever fair trade, organic and free range podcasts are available. 😁 Here’s the link. Cheers Roman

I have worked with RGM a number of times....

and would highly recommend it! For custom timepieces you would be hard-pressed to find a manufacturer able to do what RGM does. Sky is really the limit. Here are two custom RGMs I wear quite often - one powered by a Marvin Peseux 260 movement and the othe...

Fascinating! A question regarding your Peseaux 260: why . . .

Awesome watches!

Met Roland. Seems like an excellent fellow. Watches being serviced or built. The watch makers I talked with were well trained and had worked for a large brand wit operations in Secaucus before going to RGM. Sample dial patterns. Benoit let me use the Rose...

Thank you for the great shots!

The end of the semester means some tough exams and jury recordings. But in a few weeks when school is over, I'll definitely send an email. I have a number of ideas and I'd love to be able to bring one of them to life.
