same situation with many classic cars where i live. prices have shot up like crazy recently but the amount you can insure the car for have not kept up.

In the meanwhile i would carefully wear them. Happy to say that none of my watches are not even near 10x retail and thats definitely ok with me😊

I want to wear them, not worry about them. Locking away something because it has become too valuable does not make any sense to me. Wearing something once or twice a year beacause it is too valuable is to me also a waste. Owning a beautiful watch and worr...

...and probably won't wear in when I visit NYC. It used to be my beater, go-to travel watch. It was replaced last year by a $20 green, plastic Timex. I do wear it when I visit Tokyo. It's not so much the dollar value of the Rolex but more the sentimental ... 

For me personally the risk of having it stolen is not worth it. The organised gangs know their watches and know where to hang around to identify expensive watches; for them it's a simple process. I am probably in the minority for not wearing my watch outs... 

Now, if someone offers me 1 million euros to buy my Rolex GMT MASTER 6542, then amen. It would be stupid to say no to such a demential offer. I will sell it and hunt another one, as I cannot spend my life without this reference. Now the question is differ...

IMO this is a COVID-19 bubble I don't think these prices are sustainable. When things resume back to normalcy so will watches, cars and real estate.

When I started collecting independents most people said i was crazy and was burning money , I always said I don’t care about the value (high or low) because i buy what i like and don’t have the intention to sell them anyway. Now the indies are rising star...
