Thank you for your interest. No, I only found the medal. The award documents are possibly with the Prof Guinot’s family or perhaps with the Paris Observatory. I was amazed to see the medal on eBay at all. I am thrilled to have it!!! Kind regards

Reason being is that im a little concerned about the engraving and dont want a fellow Purist to get burned. This is only for due diligence so please dont take it as a difinitive yes or no on the piece.

Its a nice gesture and hopefully the Museum will actually make more research as to the validity of the medal, the date descrepancy not having an answer is a huge red flag to me. As stated above, more question than answers on this piece. Hopfully
someone will take the time and go through their archives for more information.

Yes, it was a pretty special find. Will be donating the Tompion Medal to the Museum of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers (which is its rightful home) in 2 weeks. Should be an exciting trip coming up. Cheers
