I myself was one of this guy’s back in the day, at the beginning of this hobby.
I was a huge Omega fan, and under no circumstances would wear or buy a Rolex.
Now that all changed , and I just can’t like Omega...
To me it’s just the feel of the watch , the ergonomics, the reliability, the integrity...
So I believe that Rolex will always be Rolex, and all the people/enthusiasts who choose Omega are doing it mostly because they can’t get the Rolex they like , and Omega naturally is the alternative.
I feel that Omega makes to much of to many things, also to colorful and trendy, the watches are way to big and thick for my taste.
Also remember Rolex makes way more watches than Omega and still Rolex is the brand with empty stores.
I personally don’t think that Omega will concur Rolex, but off course there will always be people who just don’t like a certain brand...
I also see an artificial push by grey market dealers and certain blog sites (HODINKEE , WatchBox)to push Omega each for very obvious financial reasons , but I don’t see it working so far...
So the answer to your question is , no I don’t think anything will change , at lest not in the near future.
