This is not their first watch, they've produced one before that is excellent

Jun 04, 2017,14:52 PM

If you look up the 960, it's a previous incarnation.

I doubt that they'd fall short of producing the next piece in their series.

There's quite a few owners of the 960 out there, wouldn't be difficult to get in touch with one of them.

Really great company, love their work!
Thanks for bringing this up!

Ophion, to me this looks fascinating

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-13:00
A young brand based in Spain, Ophion has just launched its second model. The Ophion OPH 786 watch's concept is based on early pocket watches and is expressed not only in its guilloche dial, Roman numerals, and traditional-looking hands, but in the movemen...

Fantastic!

Great Value for what you're getting, thanks so much for bringing it to our attention. Can you tell us more about the team behind the brand? S

I know nothing but what you can read

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-13:13
but I think that they have 'the look' of real high end. A game changer? Antony

Normally the "About" pages tells the company story, but this About page says nothing

 By: cazalea : June 4th, 2017-13:30
I would like to understand the people and organization better, especially if they want £$€1000 in advance. The ideas are interesting but many a company has floundered between idea! and production :-( Cazalea

Indeed they have,

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-13:37
and loadsa money has been lost by innocent enthusiasts. Nevertheless looking at this I feel that industrialising the production process of the look makes the piece parts much lower cost. The 1k deposit is to have one of the first 40,,,so they say. Maybe I...

Enterance prices probably.

 By: bulentvural93 : June 4th, 2017-13:32
Hi Antony, The brand is young so they will try to have a lot of people trying their They will arrange the prices seeing the demand the other hand it is not easy to get into a market which is really full of wolfes. Looking at the photos i also liked the ...

Thanks for your comment

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-13:40
the market is brutal. Only the really strong ideas and people survive but it is possible: Journe, Ferrier, Moser, Sarpaneva, Groenfeld, Grossmann, Lang&Heyne and many more. ATB Antony

Do they?

The pictures shown (not once, but multiple times) are computer generated illustrations telling nothing about the actual product. Additionally, I am strongly against full-quoting articles from other online resources. Even with the small hint at the end, th...

Would you prefer it if I removed the posting?

I would be happy to do so. Antony

Thank you Anthony for the discovery

Even though the main images

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-14:12
are probably renderings I suspect that the movement pics are probably real. I feel sorely tempted to order one,,,,but I have enough exquisite watches and I must control my acquisitive instincts.....I must!! Best wishes Antony

So many temptations around here ;-)

I was beginning to worry that I'd posted about a potentially risky propostion. Phew!! Kind regards Antony

Any idea?

 By: sham1 : June 4th, 2017-15:00
What the dimensions of the watches are? Thank you Antony for bringing it to our attention and I don't think you will need much persuading to put down that deposit. Worse case scenario, I think you spend more on cat food in a month!

Very funny

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-15:06
Actually I would. Looking at the pics..who wouldn't? It's 38mm and, if I recall, 8.5 thick. I am soooo tempted but I must not, I will not, I cannot...repeat three times whilst banging head against wall! I hope that you are well. Kind regards Antony ...

Back at you - gopher!

Killer boy!!

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-15:24
Beautiful. My boy is too old to hunt....but in his day we lived in a pool of bird feathers and assorted small animal parts. Ahhhh,,,bless him!

Feathers & mouse guts

 By: cazalea : June 4th, 2017-17:02
we've had both this week, plus the gopher. My cat is 12; he should stop someday ...

I hope that's a looooong way off

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-22:14
Keep on hunting!!

Please buy that watch!

 By: sham1 : June 4th, 2017-17:04
We al need a review somehow

It is a perfect size for you

and would suit your refined sensibilities!

As I am retiring in two weeks time,

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-05:38
my alleged and usually lost in action 'refined sensibilities' are saying no more watches for a while

I would never get bored doing nothing!

I am a lazy bugger!!

 By: KMII : June 4th, 2017-22:31
According to the article above

Thanks!

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-07:22
As you can tell, I have only looked at the photos unlike the more literate ones among us And as usual Antony is trying to get me to buy something that is too large for me!!

For normal wrists, yes! :-)

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-10:55
But for the deformed few among us, I think 38mm would be the maximum for me even though I am most comfortable with watches measuring 33mm to 36mm. I have a Patek 5131R which is too large for me. Pity because it looks lovely

You first my friend! :-)

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-15:57
Age before beauty

It all depends...

 By: KMII : June 5th, 2017-11:24
On the case and lug design - some work better with smaller wrists than others

Agreed!! [nt]

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-15:57

I hadn't noticed that you are more deformed than anyone else

 By: ant : June 5th, 2017-14:43
Maybe you could ask them to shave 1mm......it never hurts to ask!

Or better still

 By: sham1 : June 5th, 2017-15:58
I need to grow my wrist!!

My pleasure

 By: ant : June 4th, 2017-15:55
There is always something new going on...I cannot keep up )

I nearly ordered the blue dial version yesterday.

 By: Bounce781 : June 4th, 2017-23:44
But then my wife walked into the room and gave me THE LOOK! Will have to try to sneak this in somehow. Looks great and I'm sure these will sell out.

You naughty boy!!!!

 By: ant : June 5th, 2017-00:27
I know that look only too well )

LOL. Exactly.

 By: Bounce781 : June 5th, 2017-04:41
Although she didn't say "you, naughty boy". More like: "For F$&&k's sake, how MANY watches do you NEED?" A bit worse than "naughty boy" ;-)

Watches?

 By: ant : June 5th, 2017-04:56
Relatively harmless...how about: sex drugs and rock and roll, yachts, gambling, mistresses, motorbike racing, deep cave diving, deep sea wreck diving (with strong current just adds that extra frisson!)? and many others By comparison watches are a quiet ho...

Haha. Exactly. Don't DARE say it.

 By: Bounce781 : June 5th, 2017-05:02
Btw, my dad was a stamp collector. Same madness - similar Money (if you are crazy enough). Mistresses, yachts and drugs never tempted me. I have already spent all my money on watches anyway. Just as well.

Are you saying that

 By: ant : June 5th, 2017-05:11
buying watches actually stops you being tempted to indulge in culturally normal hobbies? So by doing so you are protecting her? Haha!! But I still wouldn't dare say it. Pussy whipped,,,that's me!

Haha.

 By: Bounce781 : June 5th, 2017-05:39
I always think: better be P-whipped than P-deprived But I am with you there, my friend! ;-)

KV as Knattspyrnufélag Vesturbæjar?

 By: ztirual : June 5th, 2017-13:53
Definitely not the KV i know, nor GD nor RS. In fact, at the risk of being a party spoiler, I find those watches to be pretty awful. Best Z'

I can see what you mean

 By: ant : June 5th, 2017-14:39
The classical reserved design and execution are reminiscent of KV and others. Of course a cursory examination will show the gulf between them but 'the look' is classy and tasteful.

hmm

Last year I saw a the article for the 960 and contacted Ophion. I dealt with Miguel who was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I have the grey dial and purchased an extra strap in black. Both the watch and the straps are of a very nice quality. ...

Great watch and I have their first model.

Hello All, I'm thinking of jumping on this. I have their first model which is a rare white dial version. I absolutely love this watch. It has a technotime 5 day hand wound movement. I dealt with Miguel from Ophion and he was a pleasure to work with. The p...

It's nice to hear from an owner

 By: ant : June 8th, 2017-07:32
I know it isn't my business but your current lovely piece looks as if it would prefer a smaller diameter case......just my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your new one. Which model do you fancy? Regards Antony

They made a smaller version of this model

 By: socabaptist : June 8th, 2017-08:27
This model was a 43mm case which is fine for me but they made the same model in a 38mm/39mm case. They've sold out of this model in both sizes but I think they have another production run in the future. I'm looking at the new model with the blue dial. The...
