New movement oscillator from Frederique Constant!!

 By: Lankysudanese : March 25th, 2021-08:39
I’m a big fan of watch companies that push the envelope, particularly when it comes to movements and their isochronism and stability. I look forward to handling one of these in person. Hussam ...

This is amazing.

I think FC has been doing great things.

Looks like a real breakthrough - it only has advantages vs. conventional systems

I wonder what Zenith is waiting for to further commercialise their own product

Too bad to hear this.

Did they manage to fix your watch?

New horizon

New horizon. Oscillators will be transform the mechanical watch world. The exotic peaces unreachable and mostly sell directly when finished, the tech will be going to more affordable watches so more people can enjoy it. New horizon, also in my direction ,...

I'm waiting for any video with the oscillator at work

It's indeed another breakthrough after that one by zenith. 40 Hz is quite fast😅

Thank you

I simply took a look to the official website and found nothing 😅

Indeed 😉

This could be huge

The numbers are extremely impressive all around. Was worried about the PR until they showed the added wheel in the drive system. I am very impressed. I know we have seen these oscillators before in watches like GP but this is impressive. Can definitely se...

Dutch watchmaking by TU Delft.

That’s what we call innovation. Will it be accepted in the world of fine watchmaking ? 😁

Very impressive, thank you

for sharing. Would wish for the technology to be used in a, ahem, progressively designed watch, though. Certainly a matter only of time yet rather unlikely to come from this brand. Cheers Marc

Traditional is not a synonym for stale

The dial in particular does seem stale, rather than a pleasing sort of traditional. I wonder if I am just not at the age where I can appreciate an unremarkable and familiar dial. Frederic Constant is missing out on an opportunity, might as well launch a n...

Agree on the ‘safe’ dial design.

Hopefully the sales of this LE would propel FC to spend more on case and dial R+D.

Yes! The super futuristic look of the oscillator and

the traditional dial and hands design might be intended to "clash" in an interesting way. Only they don't, in my opinion. The combination merely puzzles me. Cheers Marc

Incredibly cool!

I'm curious though, are these types of escapement fragile compare to conventional ones? Some parts of it look quite thin. I'd have the same concern for others like the GP constant force watch.

Brilliant alternative

I love these sorts of solutions, especially in a traditional dressy watch. Price is great too. What a great technical addition to the field. Ok, what about the emotional side? I suppose it exudes technical poise, but I feel the technology deserves more th...

New horizon part 2

 By: Weems@8 : March 26th, 2021-06:15
Horology will never be the same. It is magnificent to see what FC achieved. About design we all can discuss which direction FC can go. Lucky i am FC made my taste with their new marvel. Sure, it is middle of the road, and it would be nice to see flamboyan...

I think Frederique Constant is really a great brand ! Very innovative (they created their in-house movement before the ETA supplies crisis), yet very affordable !

 By: montres1 : March 26th, 2021-02:40
The only bad point I would say is the overall "Breguet-like" feeling (hands, dials etc.). To me they should have try to develop their own personality. Apart from that their Perpetual Calendar is the cheapest swiss-made with in-house movement you can find,...

Looks pretty good too!

Very interesting!

 By: Spencer Karrington : March 27th, 2021-05:58
I think it is really cool but, i would be more interested to see how they can use silicon and such tech to add more variety interms of artistic expression, like could they make the escapement look like a smile face or a bird or something. Anyway, really c...

I'm glad to see such innovation.

I do wonder if this is a sustainable 'middle ground' between quartz and high horology? But if this is based heavily on simplifying the mechanics and mass-producing high-tech materials for the oscillator, what will stop other companies from creating simila...
