Horological Meandering

Sometime in the fall of 2021, I got it into my head that the wristwatches by the independent brand Naoya Hida could quite possibly be the "next big thing" in independent watchmaking. After that, I devoured everything I could find about it on the internet,...  

As much as I love simple "simplicity" with tons of work put into as art to create a watch on the dial, movement, polishing, hands etc.....I feel I prefer a little more complication in my collecting journey which I am still lacking. I have some simple time... 

These are extremely pretty and I have felt tempted. To me, they are too expensive for what they are.

Price aside, I think they are absolutely lovely. I similarly like the moon phase the best. However, I too struggle with the cost. You are in VC, Patek, or ALS range at $20,000. In my view, this comes down to opportunity cost.

...and admire his vision and efforts. Alas, there are many other choices, including some very nice timepieces you can customize, at lower pricing. Make them $5k and they are competitive, at $10k there is some very serious competition including Grand Seiko... 

And I’m not the only one has this opinion, the design is pretty good but in wrong price.

I was reserving judgment until seeing in the metal, which I thought would have happened already but alas not yet. The price was also a hesitation for me, but I’ve (admittedly) spent more on less from the so called holy trinity and so it was hard to be abs...
