Sadly, the practical reality of wearing some of these epic-scale watches can be intimidating and dangerous. Even though I wear a pretty basic Sinn watch, I still take care to avoid naive assumptions about the safety and risk of neighborhoods and localities that are unfamiliar to me.

A $3,000- $4,000 sports watch might not be remarkable on this web community, but that probably looks too good to be true for a thief seeking to bag a credit card or some cash. Wear all watches of any value with discretion and forethought.
Best,
Tim

My friend got 'robbed' of his WG Daytona with diamond markers too while in Europe. His friend too lost a RM to a mugger

My cousin lost his money, etc etc... Many horror stories. Just be safe when we travel to other countries unless we know the area pretty well. It's just not worth it

I felt more relaxed wearing my Rolex in SF than I do wearing it out in the open in Europe (any big city in France/Germany/Belgium/Netherlands/...). No idea why, I know where I am, I know the places but it simply doesn't feel right.

Wow. Terrible state of affairs.

Not the kind of watch I would ever own but still. Terrible

Most unfortunate

I can't help but wonder maybe both the perpetrator and the victim both wish it was a Rolex instead...

Really sad

At least the thief will have a hard time selling it and if it gets back to service the owner will get it back... Hopefully

Let's hope so

That RM is uncommon, easier to spot

The moral precept of the story.

PLEASE dont wear your precious watch to any ,,Hotspots,, nowadays. Its a crazy world out there and luxury bags, watches and jewelry aren’t safe on the street anymore. Its a real shame but its reality 🤬

An article about this theft in the Japan Times mentions that the thief dropped a cell phone while running away

 By: mpg13 : October 9th, 2019-02:28
If it's his own phone or has his fingerprints on it there might be a good end to this story.

Wow...ざまあみろ

Serves you right! (to the thief)

So sad. Don't worry, he will get his.. Little does he know the cost of servicing !
